A great place to eat during your day at epic universe. We were there whilst the live guitarists were playing and they were brilliant, although it was quiet in the restaurant with just a few tables occupied, the live music added some atmosphere and they really engaged with the small audience they had. We enjoyed the food, it was tasty, filling, and reasonably priced for a theme park like epic. The restaurant was well decorated and themed which added to our experience. Like many theme park restaurants now, it's either quick service or mobile ordering, which is fine however it doesn't add much in the way of service. The servers just brought your food over to you and that was it. But it was fast and efficient so can't grumble. Considering how quiet the place was, there were a number of dirty tables still with stacks of plates and leftovers, which I was surprised to see as normally, in our experiences ,universal parks are spotless. This could easily be approved upon in future. Also, due to the fact most people want to maximize their day going on attractions rather than eating in the restaurants, it was a shame to see the place so quiet. I think once universal pass holders get to visit, or you get the multi day ticket access to the park, you will see more people coming in to just enjoy the food, drinks, and live entertainment offerings which will provide some much needed atmosphere. We did have a lovely time here, and would recommend giving it a try, even if it's just for 45 minutes of your day so you can enjoy some...
Read moreOkay, I'm going to be honest here. I was having an amazing day at Epic Universe, and it was time for lunch. The original plan was to try the pizza at Pizza Moon. We were curious since the reviews are extremely positive.
Unfortunately, the line was horrible, and standing under the sun for an hour just wasn’t feasible. So, we walked right next door and discovered the Oak and Star Tavern.
It turned out to be a great decision. We walked in and were immediately greeted by an attendant who took the time to explain the menu and how to order for faster service.
We found a table, scanned the QR code, and placed our order. I got the two meat plate, and my son had the pulled pork sandwich. For sides, I chose mac and cheese, and he went with the fries.
A server brought our food and yes, they use real silverware!
The brisket was good, not dry at all. The ribs were average, and the mac and cheese was solid as well. I was satisfied, although the portion size was on the smaller side.
My son said his sandwich was really good, and the fries were amazing.
All in all, I’ll definitely try this place again on my next visit. I can’t wait until this park is added to the annual pass, because I’ll be here often.
Before I forget: the restaurant is huge, with plenty of tables, great decor, and a...
Read moreOK... on the first visit, I tried the Jackfruit sandwich with fries. It was a decent sandwich, but something wasn't there for me. It just didn't "pop." That is me. You may love it. However, on the next visit, I went with the 1 Meat, 1 Side dinner. The meat I ordered was brisket, and the side was fries. Whoa! Now you're talking taste! The brisket was off the chain tender, juicy, and delicious. I tried a few drops of each of their sauces, and that really got me confused. I was going between just the brisket and then back to a little squirt of each sauce. I couldn't decide what tasted better. You can not go wrong on the brisket, no matter if it's on a plate or a handheld. They also feature 3 Coke Freestyle machines inside and offer a bar for adult beverages and live music at certain times. Get the brisket! I added still shots and a couple of short vids, but the lighting is a little low to show that beautiful brisket. I even used 8K to record the vids. A d the homemade pickles were...
