Gullivers Pizza & Pub — Restaurant in Oakbrook Terrace

Gulliver's had always been the Best place to throw Baby Shower's / Birthday Parties in the past. Just recently in February I had booked my sister's Baby Shower for April 29, 2018 @ 1PM. Looking forward to the festivities I had dined in a few times before the shower date going over arrangements with management. I was informed that the day of shower we could set up, arrange, and decorate at 11AM when the restaurant /bar opened. At time of arrival , nothing had been swept. Beers bottles were left for disposal from the night prior. Tables were taken from our section to accommodate other parties. Leaving my party short on seating and chairs. Food was prepared and brought out to our guests at 1:30PM. This package contained $13.95 per person including pizza, pasta, salad, and pop. However, food preparation by staff was not consistent with guest and quite a few people were left unfed (including myself). There was no left over pizza. No salad. Only pasta. At 3:05PM our waitress arrived to bring us our checks and advised that we had only 25 minutes to wrap up our party because another one was coming in. I was not made aware of these arrangements prior to our party starting. My sister was unable to finish opening up gifts and were rushed to clean up everything after only 2 1/2 hours. After reviewing the receipts for 2 1/2 hours I was completely over charged on food. Had a very unenjoyable time tonight. Was there with a party of 27 people and we had a reservation. 17 adults and 10 kids. We only had one server taking care of us. You could tell he was a bit frazzled. I used to be a head server and understand that. But when the 20% gratuity is automatic, you need to work that much harder. Different menu items were ordered, not just pizza. Up until tbe food was served, things seemed to be ok. But the pizza for my girlfriend and her daughter didn't come out. The server said that it would be out in a few minutes. About 10 minutes later, still no pizza and the server nor manager came to the table to update us. My girlfriend went and talked to the manager and she said, "We thought you were all just going to order pizza and salad"? What kind of answer is that? My girlfriend told her that made no sense and that was no excuse. The manager then told my girlfriend that they were short staffed. Finally the pizza came out when everyone else was about 3/4 of the way through with their meal. And the server didn't bring it but another member of the staff did. Last night (7/19/14) was our first time at Gulliver's. We will definitely be going back. The food was excellent (we had the pig skins & the thin crust pizza). The drinks & the food are reasonably priced. The staff is attentive, out-going & very friendly. Our server was Colleen, she was fantastic. She had my husband's next beer on the table just as he was finishing his last one, no waiting & the place was pretty crowded due to a band playing. Now about the band, first time we ever heard this band, Brittany & The Spears, but we are already fans. They were awesome. Loved their sound, loved their personalities & loved the music that they played. This was exactly what my husband & I were looking for, a place that we could unwind with great food, a few drinks & good service & we were lucky enough to be there on a night that there was a band playing a variety of our favorite songs, which just made the night even better. We got there at 7pm for dinner & ended up staying until midnight. The owner even came around to make sure that we were satisfied with our meals & our service.
