I really hate to leave a negative review, but I was extremely disappointed with our first visit to the Oakbrook location. We’ve been to the Chicago location several times and have always had excellent service and consistently great food, so our expectations were high.
Unfortunately, our experience at Oakbrook didn’t come close. For a Friday afternoon during opening week, they were clearly understaffed. I waited 30 minutes inside for my order, and it was uncomfortably hot—hotter inside than it was outside. I genuinely felt bad for the staff working under those conditions.
Additionally, the floor was very slippery for no apparent reason, and despite being cautious, I almost slipped multiple times while waiting. When we finally received our food, the order was incorrect. I had asked for one burger with no sauce, but all four burgers had sauce. Two of them were in such poor condition that the patties had completely fallen apart, making them nearly impossible to eat—my husband had to wait until we got home and use utensils just to manage it. I, unfortunately, ended up with no lunch at all due to the mix-up.
Hygiene was awful! Gloves were not changed the entire time I stood there. Same gloves were used to open fridge, touch food, reposition eye glasses on faces and more.
At this point, I don’t see myself returning unless I hear that the experience has significantly improved. For now, I’ll be sticking with Centro just down the street, which has always delivered quality food...
Read moreDisappointed by the Hype – Salt, Lombard
I recently visited Salt in Lombard after hearing all the buzz on TikTok. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to the hype. I ordered two burgers and fries, but strangely, the fries didn’t come out with the burgers—I had to go back and ask for them separately.
The staff seemed overwhelmed, probably due to the rush from all the social media attention, but they were doing their best.
As for the food—both burger patties were a big letdown. I ordered double patties on both burgers, but they were small, dry, and even burnt on the edges. They didn’t feel like double patties at all, more like thin singles that were overcooked and crushed. The taste was just okay, but definitely not worth the hype.
It feels like this place is more of a trend than a quality food spot. If Salt wants to keep customers beyond the TikTok crowd, they need to seriously improve their patties—make them thicker, juicier, and properly cooked.
Sadly, I won’t be going back unless there are major changes.
One thing that was disappointing is that they didn't have enough seating or actually had some sort of an arrangement for outside seating either. Most of the people were just getting their food and going to the tables outside Starbucks which is just their next door neighbor and eating over there and unfortunately these Muslim patrons Left a huge mess at another...
Read moreI was really looking forward to this but was extremely disappointed and will never return here. Inedible Fuego onion rings. Way too much seasoning for ghost pepper. took one bite and rushed to wash my mouth out. I actually feel it burned me. Ordered dine in Waited 30 minutes for 2 double burgers, fries and fuego onion rings. Burgers were ice cold. They were made first and sitting for 30mins. Then before serving them, they wrapped them cold in foil. Double burger had the right flavor but was overcooked flat and looked single, buns burnt on top and somehow cold. Frozen grocery store fries were so soggy. The employees lack hygiene, wearing gloves they handle food, touch everything with them and then putting themselves drinks from the dispenser that says “out of order”. We were forced to order a glass bottle of sprite that was in the fridge but was warm. They must have just put them in there. Place was dirty, paint peeled near the wall decor, garbage and food on the floor and bathroom was absolutely disgusting. Urinal had an out of order sign on it as well and floor was dirty. Music was...
