I stopped by this establishment for lunch, a decision I now regret almost as much as the bill that followed. What began with the modest expectation of a quesadilla and a tlacoyo devolved into a dreary exercise in patience and disappointment. The kitchen apparently regards time as a negotiable concept—20 minutes for undercooked tortillas, another 15 for their grudging correction. The quesadilla, when it finally appeared, was passable, though hardly worthy of note. The tlacoyo, however, was a culinary cipher: flavorless, joyless, and inexplicably priced at eleven dollars. To this insult was added the quiet larceny of the beverage list—a Coke in a bottle at six dollars, as though it were some rare vintage—and the audacity of charging four dollars for the perfunctory chips placed on the table without warning. By the end, I was thirty dollars lighter, having received in exchange a quesadilla, a dismal tlacoyo, and the bitter taste of being taken for a fool. The sole redemption was the waitress, attentive and gracious in spite of the chaos behind her. One might say she deserved a better stage on which to perform. Alas, service cannot redeem food that is both indifferent and overpriced. To call it “sneaky” would be charitable. I shall not be returning.

Highlights of the meal - the alambre and the chips. The alambre was delicious and well executed. The tortillas and the chips were also very tasty. I didn’t even need salsa because I was enjoying the taste so much. Don’t worry, I did end up using salsa as well. The huarache wasn’t my favorite, but my fiancé liked it, and just take a look at the giant steak on top! Hard to beat that.

Had lunch here the day before Mexican Independence Day. We came looking for Chiles en Nogada which they serve around that date and it was delicious, I highly recommend it. We also ordered Pozole with pork which was good, and it was enough to serve as a full meal for one. They also have desserts, we had pastel de tres leches and cafe de olla. The staff is attentive and friendly.

Very authentic Mexican dishes served here and I found that if they will make up a dish for you if you don't see something on the menu. On Fridays and the weekend, they serve a stewed lamb dish that melts in your mouth. There is happy hour daily if you are a value drinker, their margaritas are extremely tasty! We ordered queso dip and guacamole. The queso was one of the best I have tasted but the guacamole needed a little more seasoning. Our chips seemed to be stale but when we brought it to the attention of our server, she brought us new ones right away that were fresh and crisp. Mexican tacos were ordered, a huarache dish with beef and chicken (the cactus leaf is very different with the consistency similar to eating an aloe leaf), the verde de Colorado which as promised, was very spicy (a very strong tabasco flavoring) and an authentic chicken dish with verde sauce that wasn't on the menu. We all enjoyed our meal and had plenty of leftovers...
