Helvella Art — Attraction in Oakland

Had a fun time attending the inaugural art show of MUSHI MUSHI - The Mushroom Show at Helvella.art their first annual Mushroom Show celebrating the wonder and magic of the world of mushrooms! As an Oakland artist myself I great miss so many artist run studios and gallery spaces that allow one to create art and be a gathering space. We have seen far too many spaces disappear in the Bay Area, especially Oakland(American Steel & NIMBY RIP) so for there to be a space for art to be made & shown is wonderful. There is plenty of parking, the art was cool and things were available at all price points even for my 13 year old niece bought stickers & little prints. She also loved being able to talk to the artist thanks again @malisasuchanya ! The only thing I would say if you have an iPhone do not use Apple Maps, it sent us on a odyssey, use Google Maps if we had started with that we would have gotten there 15 mins earlier. Luckily they stayed up for an hour past what they stated. Looking forward to...

With the closing of a few of Oakland's art galleries during the pandemic, it was such good news to know that Helvella Art was opening their doors. I was one of the privileged artists that has been able to showcase a few pieces in their space and what a treat it is. The gallery is run by Raul and Felicia and they are a great team. The space is divided by the gallery at the front and the artist studios in the back. Both of the spaces are flooded with natural light which makes the area inviting and warm to be in. So happy that Oakland has a new art space, where we can show artwork, create new worlds and engage with the art...

The Helvella artspace located in Oakland is a lively new upcoming art studio/space. I had seen this space when it was previously occupied and now that it's an art studio/space it's beautifully lit to emphasize the many amazing art pieces that you will find there. The space itself is quite large with both the themed art occupying the front half and the artists in residence occupying the latter half.
