I can’t remember the last time I left a bad review about anything. Had Huey Magoos last night off Oakwood and it was absolutely terrible. So bad that I have to voice our experience. Their coleslaw was rancid. Rancid. One bite and you could clearly tell immediately. The chicken was pink - not cooked long enough. I am one to never complain about food. We ordered physically at location and decided to do take out to eat at home. Kicking myself for not taking photos before throwing out. I have never in my life complained at a restaurant or sent food back so I didn’t even think about taking photos. I’ll eat cold food. I’ll eat bland food, I’ll eat spicy food. This meal - just their regular chicken tenders was truly one of the worst meals I’ve had in a long time.
The only time I had issues elsewhere - ordered coconut shrimp and they never took the shells/legs off before putting the coconut batter on. On ALL of them. Sooo gross. We were in the restaurant and showed that manager. The other time there were multiple bones in chicken enchiladas that could have hurt my son. Those are the only times I can think of in 50 years.
Last night was BAD. The chicken was pink inside like the took it out too soon. I can see if it was just one meal - but all 3 of our meals on the tenders we broke open. If you eat undercooked chicken you can get sick. I wish I had taken photos to show all of you what I mean. I don’t know if they had a different cook last night or a different manager or what the problem was. It was gross. I should have taken the coleslaw back up there and had the manager try it - to see it was rancid. $40 worth of food for 3 people thrown in the trash. What a waste of hard earned money. Someone had to have been ticked off at their job last night for our food to be so bad. Will never return again. They should refund us. Man I just can’t shake the taste of that...
Read moreDelicious food, I love to dine here. The tenders are delicious, and so are the sauces.
My favorite sauce here is the garlic parmesan and house made ranch. They absolutely hit, and I love taking my leftover sauces home. I wonder if there is a way to get bleu cheese chunks in my bleu cheese dip as the dip here is more liquid.
The tenders are nice, although some days they are significantly smaller than others. Frequently, I get bite-sized tenders. But I get it. Things happen, and it's hard to be consistent when it comes to this industry, especially when it may be a supplier issue. I also get that more natural chicken is smaller in size than the mass-produced kind.
The toast is really delicious, too. That means a lot given I strongly dislike white bread. I wonder if there is a whole grain option. The fries taste nice to me, and the staff is happy to give you extra seasoning if you ask as my friend always gets extra seasoning.
The coleslaw is alright with me sometimes I will get it sometimes I will not. The chips option is not my biggest friend, but maybe some other people like it.
About a year ago, I tried the sandwich or something with buns, and the bread tasted like an unseasoned cold nameless pantry bun. I'm not sure if that was a one-off experience or if thats how they do their buns, but I have not tried anything but the 7 piece since.
The flower decor adds to the nice atmosphere. They get new flowers on a regular basis, and it is a greatly appreciated feature. The staff are always nice asking for refills and if they can throw your food away for you. One staff member, Christian, had taken the trouble of remembering that I like my drinks watered down and make sure to refill it for me just the way I like it. The food usually arrives in a reasonable time. When my food is late or when my order is lost the staff is really nice about...
Read moreAt first I thought this was going to be a good visit, but I was deeply mistaken. The guy who took my order was very nice and I helpful, he rang up my one meal with speedy efficiency. this is where the pleasantries of the visit end. I sit and wait on my phone for my order to be completed. I look up and realized it had been almost 15 minutes. Then I look around and noticed that the staff behind the counter were just standing around giving me no indication that my order was being worked on. Then I noticed a gentleman whom had arrived after my order was receiving his order, the staff handing it to him was offering sauce choices while also boasting about how quickly the man received his order. Then as I started to get more worried about my order, I see a different person carrying food out to a couple that had ordered well past my order. At this point it was bordering 20 minutes from the time I ordered and went up to the counter to ask about my order. The guy at the counter seemed surprised that I was still there and proceded to ask the other staff about my order. As luck would have they had not even begun my order or based on their reaction they led me to believe such a thing. I promptly asked for my money back and said I understand, but I did not want to spend any more time in that restaurant. They refunded my money, but asked "are you sure you don't want to wait for us to finish your order, it will only take a couple more minutes"? At that point it had been 25 minutes since I ordered, based on the service or lack thereof I respectfully declined. Biggest waste of time and literally the lowlight of my father's day. I'm just one guy, I didn't even order alot of food. What if I brought my family? Never coming back,...
