About 5 years ago we swore we would never return. Food was inconsistent, service was terrible (waited 1 hour with kids one night for food and there were only a few others in the restaurant), not very clean. Fast forward to this past Friday evening and I was wanting Mexican but didn't want to wait in line a LaParilla and did not want to drive up to the location on Dawsonville highway. Well, I should have. To begin with the waitress was very rude and in a ridiculous hurry. Was walking away from the table as I was ordering drinks for my 5 year old and 3 year old. Had to stop her again to order cheese dip. When it came out, I mentioned that I had ordered it with jalapenos; she goes to the kitchen and brings a bowl pickled jalapenos...NOT THE SAME THING! So we ordered our food and about 5 minutes later my husband's fajita quesadilla comes out, but nothing else. 5 more minutes and my five year old's kids plate comes out. 5 more minutes my plate comes out, but its burritos and not chimichangas as I ordered. Few more minutes pass and the waitress says ok, everything is good and goes to walk away, not giving us a chance to ask for our 11 year old's dinner or comment on mine being wrong. We had to flag her down to get her back to the table. When she arrives she tells me what I have is what I ordered that they do not fry the beef chimichanga anymore. I was irritated but said fine. I will eat it. At this point, the hubby's food (which was terrible) had been on the table for over 15 minutes and the little ones were losing patience. We asked for our daughter's crunchy tacos and someone came back a few minutes later with SOFT tacos, which she does not like. So we had to ask for help again. At this point I had tasted my food and did not like it; it was cold and had a weird taste. Not at all what I had ordered, so I sent it back and ate chips for dinner. The crunchy tacos came, were fine and we were on our way to being finished with dinner. As I mentioned, my husbands food was not good either, so he decided to eat one of the soft tacos left on the table. Of course, there was a long black hair in... and my daughters and I are all blondes. That was it. We got up, went up front to pay and bring this to the attention of someone in charge. Well go figure that the person running the register could not have given two flips. He said how was it, my husband proceeded to tell him and he never lifted his eyes from his cell phone and started making some weird clicking sound and said "oh." Not an I am sorry to hear that, not let me get a manager; just oh. I was FURIOUS to say the least. This is why we will NEVER go back again. Its one thing to have a bad service, but to be rude to the customer and not acknowledge their frustrations, that is just unacceptable. They do no deserve to be in business if they are going to be like that. I absolutely think we were treated poorly because we are white. From now on, we will go to LaParilla where the food is consistently good and the staff is very friendly. There is a reason people line up outside the doors over there every day of the week and you can walk in El Sombrero at 7pm on a Friday night and take your pick of...
Read moreIf I could leave only a bad review without any stars I would. Terrible service!!! To start off with the terrible experience my husband and I had when we walked in we stood around waiting for someone to greet us. The person at the front, whom I’ll assume is the owner, didn’t even say hello. He simply turned around and acted as if we hadn’t just walked in. We were taken to table, which you can see in the picture attached was littered with trash underneath. We were served chips and salsa and before we could start eating them the salsa was taken away and replaced( not sure what that was about). We had intended to start with and appetizer and possibly also get drinks but based on the way we had been treated up to that point we decided to skip those and instead ordered our main dish. I ordered the pollo ranchero which actually wasn’t half bad if you can get past the grease puddle in the plate. The waiter hardly spoke to us other than to take our order. When the food was brought out the plates were slammed on the table and also when we asked for straws, instead of handing them to us, he placed them at the edge of the table. Honestly if you want a good experience at a Mexican restaurant I would go elsewhere. Terrible...
