This was my first time in Darrell's Diner, and it was an overall pleasant experience. There was nothing extraordinary about this place, but I got a solid meal that was tasty, and not too expensive. It had a classic diner atmosphere. However it was a bit sticky and dirty. Overall a decent place to have a quick meal. I ordered a club sandwich with turkey on whole wheat bread with a side of fries. Interestingly, it costs extra to have both ham and turkey on the sandwich, which is unusual. However it was fairly priced so I can't complain. At least the hot sauce was free. The sandwich had a nice presentation and was cut into 4 little triangles. All the ingredients tasted fresh and satisfying. The sandwich tasted homemade, not ultra-processed and rushed. Nothing super special, but overall a good sandwich. It was loaded with turkey, but there wasn't too much tomato, lettuce or bacon. However there was enough to be enjoyed. In my opinion, club sandwiches often have too much mayonnaise, but this one had a tasteful amount. My side of French fries was disappointing. They were hot and soggy; not crispy at all. They weren't too generous with them either (probably a good thing). The fries were definitely the weakest part of this meal. I would consider my time at Darrell's Diner a generally positive experience. I was pleasantly surprised by the freshness of the ingredients for my sandwich. My expectations were met for a nice chill breakfast diner. I would return to Darrel's.

My friend and I stopped in for lunch on a whim. I was attracted to the picture of a dog saying "doggone good food". Apparently Darrell's is a chain of restaurants with multiple locations in the Marion, Sumter, and The Villages area, which I have never heard of before. They are open for breakfast and lunch. My friend described it as a real diner. It has customer restrooms, free off street parking. They accept cash, credit and debit cards as payment. Menu is not robust: one double sided menu coveted the extent of the items, but it has common breakfast and lunch options, which was good enough for us. I didn't see that alcohol was served (which makes sense for their operations hours). The tables and dinnerware were clean, staff were friendly. It did take awhile for my bacon and Eggs to arrive while my friend's bacon cheeseburger that also took a bit too long, arrived way before mine. It wasn't busy, so the delay and gap in service of the 2 meals didn't make sense, but the food was good enough when it did get here. They air conditioned inside dining, and a few outside table with a prominent bowl of water for guest dogs. I wouldn't object to going back another time. It was okay.

We've been going by for almost two years now. I kept saying to my wife, we should go there. After many missed attempts I have only one regret...it took almost two years to stop in. Wish we had done it sooner!!! Had the special which was peach French toast with eggs and bacon. My wife had the TBR wrap with fries. All of it was great. Service was above average, thank you Charlie for an amazing first time! If you like or love cozy Ma and Pa style diners then give this one a chance because we are going back tomorrow because of an appointment. We are 40 minutes away and would take this over other places. Oh, one thing of note about the peach compote and whipped cream, they were chef quality. Huge surprise!!!!

A 30 year plus customer of Aunt Fannie's and have been going 3 to 4 times a week to new Darryl's that purchased it. I have seen this place go down so badly since April. It was bad enough when he wasn't going to change menu nor staff per Ocala Star banner article and did..we loved All the choices offered by Fannie's and whatever our taste buds wanted we could get.. Darryl's cut so I good foods out that you don't have much of a choice anymore. Even though we have told him via email and messaged writtenof what we wanted me to back in like chicken gizzards and be able to get turkey and dressing on any night of the week not just one specific night be able to get shrimp and not just on Friday in a seafood but he is not listening to us and after the experience again tonight for the sixth time of going over on a Friday night for the all-you-can-eat special of flounder once again they ran out we were there at 10 to 7 and they had run out tonight they had enough for one meal We had called them before we made the 24 mile trip and they said they had plenty 30 minutes earlier. we wanted two orders of fish however they now only had one order of 2 fillets and I couldn't get any extra than the two and not for first time. On top of that we have gone for Fridays at least for the last two months and they have been running out of the flounder any times between 3 in the afternoon and 7 at night this is unacceptable . You should have enough if you advertise All you can eat and .Get yourself organized as you have owned this restaurant now 7 months. be organized and get enough food in. You should have thy fish frozen in your freezer if you are advertising it. Also when the cooks realize that they're an hour or two away from running out defrost it . One major problem is no communication between the two of the kitchen and the front staff .. the kitchen constantly wait until they're down to one meal and they let the waitresses know we've only got enough for one person and that's no happening constantly and I hear it and see it. nobody is working together the servers are frustrated you've let most of them go and we will not be coming back and we have been a loyal customer at least three to four times a week you need to do something because you're going to lose your business if you haven't already. You need to improve this immediately or close at 3pm like your other restaurants and get jobs for your wait staff for other hours or your other other restaurants... don't screw the staffing for...

We have been eating at Darrell’s from the very beginning, starting with the location across from the 40 East Publix. We’ve always loved it and never had any issues. This location became our new regular spot when it opened, but after last weekend we will never return. My card was charged twice after my breakfast on Sunday, and when I called around 3pm on Monday, there was no one in the restaurant that could do anything about it. My fiancé went in at 6pm the same day, and was told the same thing. His response was “you have no one in your restaurant that can do anything about anything?” And the waitress responded in a snarky tone “not at this hour!” (This hour being 6pm...) I then called the next morning at 9am in which I had to demand that the manager get on the phone with me because I was told he was cooking in the kitchen because someone called out. Once the manager (Eddie) finally got on the phone he asked me to give him ANOTHER 24 hours, claiming that the charge should have dropped already, and if they didn’t to come in the next day for a full cash refund. It didn’t, and I went in the restaurant the next day and was told it was going to be a while, because yet again, the manager (Eddie) was cooking in the kitchen because someone called out. After about 20 minutes of standing in the middle of the restaurant waiting for Eddie to come fix their mistake...a waitress walked up to me and said “sweetie it’s the middle of lunch rush, it’s going to be a while, do you just want to leave your name or something” and my response was “no, I’ve been going back and forth with this man for 3 days, I don’t know what his problem is.” To which she said “WOW” and stormed off. At this point I just had to walk out before I lost my composure, and no, Eddie never came out to address the issue, he stayed hidden in the kitchen. The whole situation was disrespectful and unprofessional. I don’t know the servers name, but she’s overweight, blonde, never wears makeup and her hair is always in a bun. I will not be letting this go, as this was one of our go to’s from the very beginning because of my parents familiarity with the owners. However, we won’t ever be back, and they probably...

This place was horrible. I don’t usually write reviews but I don’t want anyone else getting scammed out of money like us. First off they said “sit wherever” which is totally fine if they had any CLEAN tables. We walked around the very crowded little place and there was only 1 table that had 8 chairs around it (it was just 2 of us) with 3-4 little tables that were open but dirty. We asked that we move to a smaller table because a family of 6 came in and there was no spot open for them so we offered to give them a spot and we can sit at one that needs to be cleaned. They told us no and that we have to stay where we are. The family ended up leaving because there was no place for them. After we get seated and ordered we found out that today was our servers first day, we congratulated him and told him he is doing an awesome job! Then not even 2 minutes later we see one of the managers pull him to the side and start yelling at him in front of all the customers and staff because he mad a very tiny mistake (he wrote hash but they thought it said ham) very tiny mistake that could have easily been fixed. He came back over and apologized that he did that and asked if I still wanted the hash-browns. I said absolutely, and it is not your fault. I told him I hope this is his last day because they treated him so horribly. They were constantly yelling at him and being very short with him the whole time we were there. He is the ONLY one who was nice and did a great job for his first day! His name was Anthony and I really hope he gets out of there. Horrible service and horrible with their employees. I didn’t even want to give 1 star, wish I could have given 0. Not to mention we only got a waffle meal and 3 pancakes and our total came out to $40. I will NEVER recommend this place nor will we be...
