We visited Mimi’s Cafe on a weekday in September 2024. We stopped in for an early lunch. They were not busy at the time and were quickly seated. It is a nice little place that does have a small bar and a few different dining rooms. We sat in what is probably considered the main dining room. The building inside and out, is ascetically pleasing in my opinion. As someone else said, kind of like a modern French cafe’. It is not perfect by any means, but very nice. It’s also much better than probably any fast food restaurant. It being an early lunch or brunch , I had Eggs Benedict. The wife had grilled cheese and fries, and a cup of French onion soup. We both enjoyed our meals. We kind of tried breakfast and lunch at the same time. Obviously we didn’t try everything on the menu. But it gave us an idea. We found the food to be good. Prices are subjective to one’s opinions, but we found them comparable to other similar eateries. Our server was named Michael, he seemed fairly busy, but was acceptably attentive. He really did a good job and made our meal enjoyable with no issues. It wasn’t overly busy, so I cannot say how they may be when busy. The restrooms were adequately clean. That may not be important to some folks, but may be to others. So I figured that I would mention it. We did not have a drink at thee bar, and the bar is not very large. But probably just right for Mimi’s. I would not consider them a bar. Just a nice restaurant that happens to offer a bar. Anyway, we found Mimi’s enjoyable. More than likely, we will return to visit again. If they are at least as good next time, as they were this first time, all...
Read moreThis is a Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner restaurant with a full service bar. We went in for late breakfast-lunch during slow period (approx 2:30). Wife wanted simple bacon, egg croissant. Specified eggs over easy-medium (runny yoke) and crispy bacon. I had basic French toast. Well it took a while....then the eggs were well done and bacon missing... sent it back. A while later had to ask server to check the kitchen for wife's meal. It came out and again eggs well done and the bacon soft... and this time for whatever reason... the kitchen randomly put lettuce on it (no lettuce first time and don't recall menu mentioning lettuce to be fair). Needless to say we sent it back, and said forget it. Server apologized, manager apologized and said she would remove it from check (REALLY? I would think so, wife didn't eat it and it was not what she ordered, honestly didn't really feel that the manager was really that empathetic). But, if you are going to offer Breakfast all times, then you need to make sure you have cooks that know how to cook eggs and standards during all times that breakfast or ANY item is prepared for guest.
Maybe we just hit an off time that cooks and staff not paying attention to details. I can not attest to bar or dinner items.... Only this experience. To be honest, I don't see us going back soon.
Positives include location and comfortable booths. Restaurant seemed clean. Server was polite and seemed sincere to bad experience.
Cons: Overall Bad Quality, Long cook time, and a bit pricey for breakfast items (but they try to imply they are upscale) so that could...
Read moreI tried the pot roast. The breakfast crepes, the Blueberry muffin, the French onion soup, and the crab cakes. The pot roast was some places hot, other places lukewarm to slightly cold. What I did not like is that they only give you one scoop of mashed potatoes, which makes the meal unbalanced. The ratio of meat to potatoes is lobed in the meat side. Taste wise is fine but they were stingy with the mashed potatoes.
Crab cakes, overpriced and lukwarm, taste wise not bad but not good.
I heard good things about the French onion soup. After trying it nothing special, not good but not bad. It was OK.
The breakfast crepes lacked flavor, and were lukewarm to cold. Would not recommend.
The muffin was good.
I came here because I remember we had one near my house years ago. Traveled 3 hours to get here (wanted to drive) not worth the drive. The quality of this place is around a Chili's or an Applebee's food wise. Think of it as Perkins with a slight French twist. Not much in terms of French food though, very American.
Would I come again? Maybe if it were closer , maybe if I feel like going for a drive again but the food isn't terrible nor is it that great. If you are 20 to 30 min away consider giving it a try. But be careful of what you order. Not everything on the menu...
