My first time coming here and trying Kava! The space was beautiful and relaxing with lots of cool art, Dillon was super knowledgeable and kind, and the whole place felt very clean. There are plenty of places to sit without feeling crowded too! The kava flavors were interesting and fun and everyone who came in was so nice and friendly. You can feel that the staff is happy and the owners take pride in what they do/provide.
My only complaint (not worth taking a star off because maybe I just missed something) is the pricing. When I looked at the board, the price seemed very reasonable ($13 ish) but when I got my check, we paid almost $80 for 4 drinks. Maybe I’m missing something? I’m not mad, just confused. I don’t know how much kava usually costs but the prices posted seemed fair if you’re coming here for the first time, just make sure you ask how much each thing is so you aren’t surprised at the end.
Overall, really love it here. Will definitely be back but as more of an occasional treat.
Edit after comment: I think my husband rounded up when telling me how much we spent. All of the drinks were priced correctly (I got a drink with some syrups in it and I just didn’t realize that was extra) and I told him to tip well since the service was so fabulous. No...
Read moreMuddy Lotus Tea is truly a gift for those of us in Ocala who do not like alcohol bars, yet want to experience nightlife. It’s also a gift for those of us who work remotely and want a change of scenery during the work day. I love to come here, day or night. It’s beautiful to watch everyone being welcomed inside with a cheer of “HEY! WELCOME!” from staff and customers alike. It feels like a home away from home because they are such a family-style business. I appreciate how knowledgeable the staff is and how accommodating they are for food allergies. The staff continually shocks me with their above-and-beyond service. This week had a perfect example of that: a friend’s car was having issues, so the manager crawled under the car to find the issue and helped fix it so my friend could get home safely. That doesn’t happen at other bars... The owners are also so kind and have supported the local community, including all types of artists and other businesses. I competed in their Drop The Mic singing competition and won, but it didn’t stop there: I continue to receive kindness and support from the Muddy Lotus Tea team and patrons in my singing journey. I love to sing karaoke there on Thursdays and dance with flow artists on Saturdays. I am so thankful this place...
Read moreSharing this because I am avid kratom/kava drinker and I feel the tea I was served this afternoon was a bit subpar.
Dylan was an amazing kava tender as always! I used to live in Ocala and have been to this place a handful of times but today me and partner were left feeling confused if what we got was kratom. We ordered the super green quart and it totaled to be $26. A little pricey but honestly kava bars are generally not the cheapest place so I’m not bothered by that. However the effects we were looking for: relaxation and a little euphoria, simply did not happen. Granted it was a quart and we felt like we got nothing from it other than drinking a normal green tea.
The atmosphere is always nice there and if we are in the area we will return, maybe just try a different kratom tea next time. We’re from Deland and have a kava bar in the area that we enjoy, maybe it’s because we are used to their brewing style. I’m unsure but just wanted to...
