We had our first meal at the Ocean Buffet in the beginning of July, 2023. The name kind of suggests it's a seafood restaurant. But we found out before we went that it was a Chinese food buffet. That didn't matter because we like them as well. Plus it would probably be less expensive than a normal seafood buffet. We went early and had no problem being seated right away. First thing I noticed on the way to our table was a nice water wall/fountain inside the building near the entrance. But it looked like there was an issue with it. The water level was very low and there were chairs blocking the wall/fountain. We found the food to be hit or miss depending on what it was. Some items were pretty good, others okay, and some not so good. Obviously tastes differ. So what I like, may not be what you like and such. So I will not begin listing what we liked or wasn't crazy about. The staff were always pretty quick to clean the dishes from the table. The restaurant seemed clean from what I could see. But I really wasn't looking. Parking was better than it looked when pulling in. There was ample parking around the building and in the back. The cost of dinner for us was Approximately $14 per person. (again, this was July, 2023) We had soft drinks, so they were less than $3 each. The total bill with taxes was less than $36, plus tip. Considering it's an all you can eat buffet, some folks will find that quite reasonable. All in all, it was not the best buffet we have ever been to. It's also not the best food we have ever had. But they are decent and at a decent price. So I feel it's worth trying. I'm sure we might be back when in...
Read moreThis place came highly recommended, but fell miserably short of my expectations. One of a handful of Chinese buffets I've tried that offer traditional Japanese Sushi & Hibachi. Chinese are not Japanese, and they should just stop trying to be.
While there were many different types of fare to choose from, it doesn't come close in comparison to a Super Buffet. 3 hot bars for Chinese/American food, & 3 cold bars: one for salad, one for desserts & one for Hibachi.
The steak on the Hibachi bar was cut into too tiny pieces and was as tough as shoe leather, but other than that, everything else was okay.
The Sushi being made fresh was delicious, but some of it appeared to be lying there for quiet awhile, and I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole,p as it appeared dried out & old.
The only 3 things that saved this review from being lower was the price, the staff (who were prompt & friendly), & the ambiance. The place was really done up nice inside. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING I ate was above average. I'm guessing the chicken must be extraordinarily fresh, because as I was leaving, I heard a roster crowing, and before I could pull out of the parking lot, I saw it pecking it's way between parked cars.
I nearly forgot about the bathroom here. Very unclean. Unflushed urinals, water all over the sink area, and a loose roll of paper towel on the wet countertop. Fairly disgusting.
I've heard great things about Ocean Buffet, and I've read a lot of very positive reviews. I'm befuddled how anyone can think this place is all that great. I say it's very...
Read moreIf I could give negative stars I would. As soon as you walk in there is no service. It took a while for someone to acknowledge us even though about 5 people walked by. You get seated and a waiter rudely asks you want you want to drink and has a nasty attitude as if they dont want to be working. The food looked ok but not delicious so I got hibachi. Big mistake. We waited on line for a long time before the Chef came out. The chef was rude as hell. He didnt even cook the food how I wanted it nor the other guest. One lady was puzzled because he took it upon himself to make the food how HE wanted it. I got teriyaki and it looks like overcooked white rice. No flavor. Not to mention RACIST. My family were the only Hispanic and Black people on line. He threw our food on our plates and just shoved it at us. Yet with the caucasian customers he placed the food down, cooked it how they wanted it and gave it to them with a smile. We still tipped him and got no thank you yet everybody else did. When we asked our waiter for a manager Gavin just looked at us and walked away. Either he didnt understand or care. Finally we got a manager and he was nice enough to take my plate and my mothers plate (that looks like vegetable soup) off the bill. He said he would talk to the chef and hopefully he will. This place is horrible. Dont waste your time nor money. This establishment is solely here to take your money. Deceiving and DISGUSTING. The audacity to say the are the best in the South. More...
