We visited the Storming Crab in November 2024. We visited mid afternoon during the week, so it was fairly quiet. We were seated promptly by what one would probably call the Hostess. Then our server took over from there. So, we interacted with only the two employees, and both were very nice. The restaurant itself seemed adequately clean for the most part. Although they use what seems like disposable table covers. We noticed a couple on other tables that had not been changed after those tables were bused. Other than that the restaurant appears clean. The decor was decent and fit with a seafood theme. The menu to us seemed to be mostly fried food unless you ordered Lobster or crab. Maybe some other small shell fish. But that seemed to be all. Everything else (main entree) seemed to be fried food options. Of course I could be wrong, if so, my apologies. But that’s how it seemed to us. There were only napkins on our table and most of the tables around us. Not even salt and pepper. We found S&P on another table that was within view. More on that later. We ordered, then our server brought us some bread. I’m not a 100% sure, but it seemed like garlic and cheese on bread. It was different and okay. It wasn’t the best bread ever, but I did eat it. Our entree’s came out in decent time. Again, it was quiet when we visited, so that was to be expected. I never had fried rice at a seafood restaurant that I could remember, so I ordered it. It had a strong ham taste to me, but again, I could be wrong. It was different, but not bad. Now the down side. Both our entree’s were fried. We ordered different meals, (scallops and shrimp) but neither had any flavor to speak of. I say this as we like to at least try food without being masked by sauce, to experience its true flavor. Both of our entree’s were basically flavorless. So it seems that sauce is mandatory at Storming Crab with fried options. I cannot speak about Lobster or Crab. As such, it was only fried seafood we sampled. We also used substantial salt and pepper on everything to assist in an attempt at adding flavor. The rice wasn’t bad as it came out. But was also helped by some added S&P. The prices are of course subjective to one’s personal opinion. But there was a wide variety of prices depending on what one would order. It’s pretty safe to say that the non-fried items like Lobster and Crab are on the pricer scale compared to the fried options. We didn’t finish our meals and for the first time in my life, I left a scallop in addition to the rest of my meal. Although I did eat most of the scallops, and some of all items that I ordered. I ate mostly rice and left the majority of my meal. The wife was pretty much the same. Although she did eat her shrimp. She also said it had no taste. But it was the principal. So she ate it. When asked, we nicely told the server that all was fine, but we did not require boxes to take it home. She did a good job and it was not her part of the visit that was lacking. So I see no need to make her feel uncomfortable or bad. I figure at this point, there was not a whole lot that was going to convince us to return and try The Storming Crab again. This was just our experience and yours might be different. So I am by no means saying to avoid the Storming Crab. It’s your decision and your experience could be different. But for us, I do not see us returning to the...
Read moreThis was our first time going there. We won't be going back. I checked out the menu ahead of time online. Options available online (such as the pick 2 combo) were not available inside. To start, I went to the bathroom & it was a mess & smelled bad. I decided to just wash my hands & get out as quick as possible without using the toilet. There were no paper towels so I used my shirt to dry my hands & open the door. I let the staff know the bathroom needed some attention. My husband says, if that's what they let you see, imagine the kitchen that you don't see. We had 8 adults & 2 children in our party. They brought 2 pieces of seafood bread to the table. I got 1 of those & it was really good & fresh. I ordered the single lobster tail, which came with half a corn cob & a potato in seasoned butter. I also ordered the fried shrimp and an order of that bread. The lobster was a little tough but no real complaints on the bucket meal. The shrimp was really tough. Out of 8 pieces, I had 2 & gave 2 to others to show them how bad they were. They had obviously been frozen & appeared to have been warmed in a microwave. The rest were left. The order of bread was nothing like the first piece. It was burnt on the edges, dry & flat. Crunchy rather than soft like the first one. My husband ordered the pound of king crab legs and a salad. When brought out, it was only 2 snow crab sized legs, a half corn cob & small potato. He picked up the bag from the bucket & held the bottom in the palm of his hand & asked if that was supposed to be $50 worth of food. He told them to take it back since he expected the king crab legs to be bigger than the snow crab legs for the price. He did have a salad which he was satisfied with. The decor wasn't bad. It wasn't classy but it was entertaining. In comparison, my husband took me to a classy seafood restaurant July 4th weekend. The food was fresh, not frozen & the atmosphere at that place was modern & felt more like a date night even though it was just dinner & it was also $50/ person. Boston Lobster Feast is also $50/ person but the food is much better & AYCE. The reason I gave it 2 stars was because despite the 2 pieces of bread for 10 people & no drink refills, the waitress was friendly & we were still able to...
Read moreWe arrived and our server was this white middle aged man i forgot his name but he was so sweet and patient. Anyway me and my boyfriend ordered a 75 dollar seafood boil, it contained 1/2 pound king crab and 1/2 a pound of snow crab with headless shrimp that came with corn and sausage. The king crab was horrible the first time around, thin, thinner than my finger (A KING CRAB) rubbery and so not worth 35 dollars. I told them that wasn't how it is supposed to look i wish i could upload a photo of that bullshit. The manager came to talk to me its was this Chinese or asian woman and she was basically telling me i’m wrong and thats how king crab looks and that even if we do get a new batch remade, it was most likely going to look the same. I was irritated at this point and just wanted it remade so she did just that which i appreciate. The snow crab was good but at least for my experience the crab never came out whole when cracked, the shrimp was good though. Once the server came out with the second batch of king crab he told me the manager told the chef to try and find the best one for me which i also appreciate. Even then it was not thick crab meat like you see online just thicker but it was definitely better and i ate everything but i just feel like i’ve had better seafood. Other than the OKAY seafood I'm sure it wasn't on purpose and there probably wasn't a clean table available somewhere else but they sat this family of four that had they're two kids playing music and games very loudly literally right next to us so that was a little annoying but other than my interaction with the manager the staff was nice i guess. Wouldn't eat here...
