I have never written an online review before but felt I needed to write this one to help others avoid an unpleasant experience. We placed an online order as everything we read said this was the best method to order. You pay immediately after ordering, not when you pick up the order. Now I see why. The order was for 6 bagels and a tub of creme cheese. We recieved an email stating it would take approximately 30 minutes to fulfill this order, and we would recieve a text message when it was ready. After about 30 minutes we went up to the store. There were signs all over the door stating to wait outside or in your car until you receive the text massage. So, we went back to the car and waited another 30 minutes. Finally, we decided we couldn't wait over an hour for someone to put 6 bagels in a bag. We went inside to try to cancel our order but instead we found our order sitting on the table for pick up. Obviously, no one was texting. Actually, at the time of writing this I still have not recieved a text that our order is ready. Frustrated, we just picked up our bag and left. To summarize, it took over an hour for someone to pick 6 bagels out of a bin and put it in a bag. My family tried the bagels to find they were not anything special. Basic bagels... The purpose of this review is not to disparage the business, but rather to give a recent experience. We reviewed the Google reviews of this business, which helped make our decision to order from the business, but did not find they were accurate to our experience. So, I felt I needed to describe our experience so others can make an...
Read moreDON'T TRUST THEIR ONLINE ORDERING SYSTEM! Twice now their online ordering system has taken my order, charged my card and indicated a time that it would be ready, WHEN THE STORE WAS CLOSED. They can't even get their outside sign right. This morning, one side of the sign said Closed on Wednesday and Thursday, the other side said closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Prior review.
The bagels are great, but MAKE SURE THEY GET THE ORDER CORRECT.
ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION, I have ordered a wheat everything bagel, and wound up with a plain wheat bagel. The problem is that the receipt from the register does not list what type of bagel you ordered, so you won't find out until you pick up the order.
Today, I had already gone out to the car before I noticed it was wrong. It was busy and I had already waited about 15 minutes for the bagel, so I didn't want to go back in. The receipt attached to the bag had the incorrect bagel listed, so I know the order taker got it wrong.
I can understand a one time mistake, but this is at least the 2nd time this has happened.
May, 2016 Update - I went back today and the order taker read my order back to me. Perfect! I got the right bagel, so I'm a happy guy. 'nuff said! ...
Read moreMy usual bagel place is Surf Bagel in Rehoboth and, after my experience today at Uber Bagels, it is likely to remain so. Before I left for OC I tried to order breakfast sandwiches and a bakers' dozen to go from Uber. However, their online ordering system was not working When I tried to call in our order no one answered the phone and their voice mail box was full. (That's never a good sign.) So we took our chances and just drove there. When arrived at about 11:00 am the ordering line was out to the door. (They had two registers/kiosks for taking orders, but only one was staffed.) When I reached the ordering station about 10 minutes later I found that they did not have many types of bagels, including they types we like best. So I had to order from what was available. The poppy seed bagels I settled for were already hard when I arrived home, so I suspect they were not fresh. perhaps a day old. And this service was from a business that is currently only open on weekends. The next time I need bagels I'll heard north to Rehoboth Beach and Surf Bagel, where the bagels are fresh, better (IMO) and all types are usually available. Surf is also open every day and all year round. Plus there are no sales taxes...
