When you first arrive you'll notice a really small parking lot. And every single spot will be filled. They do have a lot across the street with plenty of parking, but if you have a lot of luggage you'll want to park close like we did. We waited for 25 minutes for a spot to finally open up. You could sit there and watch like it was a sport of people driving aimlessly around the lot over and over trying to find a close spot. That was just the start of our adventure. When I first walked in the first thing I noticed was how dirty the rug was. We were around 4 hours early before check in which was fine because we were planning on spending that time on the beach. I thought I'd ask just to see if our room might be available after spending some time on the beach. (This was around 3 hours before check in.)
I walk up to a black female at the front desk.
( I have to refer to her as black female because she refused to give me her name and she didn't have a name badge. I ended up asking the front desk the next day what her name was and he said "I can't give that out due to security reasons" I replied don't you guys have name badge's. He replied "yes" and pretended to go onto his computer to dismiss me.)
After I approached the her I asked her very politely if our rooms were ready. She said "Can I please see your ID?" I replied with "The room is in my girlfriend's name" she then repeated herself while shaking her head with attitude "Can I please see YOUR ID?" See exaggerated that "your" this time as if I was stupid. I was immediately ticked off by her attitude but kindly said "Let me go grab it, it's in the truck." I come back with my ID and now she is helping someone else, but her male coworker was there. I then told him the same thing asking if our room was ready early possibly. He asked for my ID and I said the same thing it's in my girlfriend's name while handing it to him. He said, " well then go get her." It was an a playful fun way so I wasn't upset the way he said it. But I completely wasted my time getting my ID for no reason. My girlfriend goes in and we find out our room isn't read (which was completely fine obviously we were early) he took down our number and told us he'd call us. Our room was actually ready 2 hours early and they called us which was very nice because we were done with the beach by then and we're at their bar behind the hotel called "Wahoo" the service there was decent. Some young man was our server and he was very attentive. The Menu was very subpar. My girlfriend got a salad. I forget the name of the salad and when I look online the menu is completely different from what it was on 6/8/2024 but I remember it started with a P. She asked for chicken on it and when it arrived it was in a very small bowl. The size of a side salad. It was about 40% croutons and hardly any lettuce this cost me $26 I gasped when I saw the pice. So we got our keycards and headed up to the room. The best thing about the hotel so far was how fast these elevators were. They zipped us up 9 floors I noticed it immediately it was impressive. We got to our room 904. The room looked nice, it had an extremely small balcony only room for one person, two if you really squeezed in tight. No room for a chair or anything. When we booked the room it said ocean view but we had a beautiful view of the parking lot. We ended up having a great night out on the boardwalk and came back with some food. I put it on the small table they have in the room but it was so wobbly I had to prop it up with like 20 folded napkins. I don't mind the little stuff but it adds up. The bathroom didn't lock there was something wrong with the lock and I have a 5-year-old foster child. So the entire time I'm in the bathroom I'm having a panic attack hoping she doesn't come in while I'm naked. When I went to go take a shower I noticed the complimentary soap and shampoo was falling off the shower wall. Upon leaving I went to fill up my water bottle and I noticed the complimentary water was gone. I strongly suggest booking somewhere else I wouldn't ever...

Positives- -Everything was decent room size was good the beds were comfy the pillows also Front desk was nice and gave me two free drink passes (I’ll come back to this) Also complimentary bikes if you’d like to ride around. -The second floor (terrace) has a small shop with snacks alcohol bagels and cookies have to pay for all of it but that’s fine. Our room came with no towels in it but we requested more and they brought them swiftly and replaced them again when we asked.
Negatives- We didn’t pay for a balcony room but I will say we did have one but I’m happy we didn’t pay extra for a (balcony) room or some type of view room because all the rooms are on the sides of the hotel so no beach front and also all the balconies are the same size they are small triangles with no chairs on them you can fit one from the room out there and that’s it. So I would say that’s misleading. The shower head in our room as seen in the pictures the big disk they look nice but do not push out any decent water pressure it’s like showering under a sink faucet is the best way I could describe it. Also the door to our bathroom barely locked the knob had to be twisted around and messed with just to get it to lock. The pool is small for the hotel and also normally packed during the day we only went once on the last night cause it was the first time we could all get a chair in the last two hours the pool was open. Also there is no indoor dining as advertised due to construction or no gym as advertised you have to drive or walk to the gym a couple blocks away they give you passes for. -Also no easy access to the beach due to construction you have to walk around the hotel and pool outside from the lobby. Lastly my main complaint is that I am 21 about to be 22 and from pa and my id doesn’t expire until 2025 so I still have a vertical ID I was served at every location we went to eat with my brother and his girlfriend and was at there bar multiple times until the last night it was a problem I EVEN GOT DRINK PASSES FROM THE FRONT DESK WHEN THEY CHECKED MY ID to check us in keep in mind I also booked this room. Well the last night I go with my brother to the bar I order what I want hand them my ID and the guy doesn’t even look at it hands it right back and goes we don’t take vertical ID’s very rudely and my response was “what u don’t take vertical ID’s at all?” And then I also said “I was served here multiple times and used free drink passes from the hotel twice” and he just refused to serve me after looking at my ID for half a second. Like what I used two free drink passes here and ordered drinks the past couple days and now it’s a problem. Also how am I supposed to control that PA issues vertical ID’s when ur under 21 and they don’t expire for years. I understand they are weird about this in Maryland but I was served every where else we went to yes places were carful looked at it for a little and asked for other things with my name on it like my debit or credit cards I even showed my insurance card for my health insurance somewhere which I have no problem protect your business but to just straight up refuse it without checking it with a valid id issued by my state when I am of age is ridiculous. So plan on getting ur id renewed to a horizontal one if your in the 21-24 range cause you won’t be served here apparently. Also after this situation they were rude to my brother and his girlfriend when they ordered cause my brother had to go to the room and get his girlfriend’s id. And when he came back they said to him “we’re u the one with the vertical...
Read moreJune 14-22 we had a fantastic stay at one of the Cabana Suites – Steps from the Beach. My 77 year old psrents and I recently enjoyed our amazing 8-day, 7-night stay, and it was the perfect fit for three adults. We are not dog owners so would have preferred a hotel with no pets. Had we known dogs were allowed we would have stayed elsewhere. But if you travel with dogs, you'll love this place. Kudos to Ms Joyce, the nice cleaning lady. And the nice youngbman at the front desk named Andrew. He had great customer service.
As for our stay, we liked the spacious layout and direct beach access. Our two-level suite offered plenty of room to spread out. The second level featured a comfortable king-size bed and a full bathroom, while a circular staircase led down to the main floor with a living room and a convenient half-bath. The queen-sized pull-out couch in the living room was my bed. We appreciated having a TV on each level. Getting to and from our suite was a breeze, as we could simply walk out the back stairs directly into the free parking lot. Plus, the free Wi-Fi was a welcome bonus.
Stepping out of our suite in the other direction, we found ourselves in a massive, inviting open area filled with couches, chairs, and tables – perfect for relaxing or grabbing a bite. This vibrant space also hosts private events; during our stay, there were two weddings and a rehearsal dinner. On certain nights, they even set up a projector for movie nights, which can get a bit loud until 11 PM. This didn't bother us, but it's something to keep in mind if you're traveling with young children.
The proximity to the beach was a major highlight. We could literally walk straight out onto the sand! The resort provides complimentary umbrellas, chairs, and towels, which was incredibly convenient. To snag an umbrella, though, be sure to head down to the beach by 9 AM, as they tend to go quickly. The young men who set up the umbrellas were very helpful. There is also food and bar service directly on the beach. Two ladies regularly took orders and delivered everything, so we never had to leave our spot – a fantastic perk!
A Few Suggestions for Improvement: While we absolutely loved the location, our suite, and the property as a whole, we did have a few minor suggestions for the resort: Bedding for Pull-Out Couch: It would be helpful if the cabana suites were stocked with a blanket and a flat sheet for the pull-out bed. Cleaning Service Communication: When the cleaning crew stopped by, they didn't speak English, which required calling a manager for translation. Improved communication here would be beneficial. Customer Service Consistency: We were a bit surprised by the lack of friendliness from a couple of gentlemen, who appeared to be managers (one wore a face mask). Consistent, excellent customer service truly sets a venue apart, and this was a slight disappointment. Beach Walkway & Umbrellas: A rubber mat leading from the hotel walkway to the beach would make the transition much easier. Also, the new umbrellas used in June seemed cheap and flimsy compared to the older, more solid aqua-colored ones. Suite Cleaning: During our 8-day stay, our suite was not swept or vacuumed. Given the proximity to the beach and the lounge area there's a lot of sand. More attention to cleaning, or perhaps better training for the cleaning staff, would be appreciated. Maybe providing the staff with vacuums vs brooms would help with efficiency. Despite these small points, we had a fantastic time at Ashore Resort and would highly recommend it for its prime location and excellent cabana suites!
And I booked this resort because of a tiktok I'd...
