Coming from Connecticut we were looking for the closest New Haven style pizza. We could find an OCMD.
Quaint, quiet, hidden little spot on the outside, fun beachy but yet modern decor on the inside.
We had been sat for about five minutes, and a gentleman arrived with a son causing a bit of commotion with the hostess, trying to determine how to fit his Large party in the space. While, perusing the menu the big group came in, sat down, and after my next look up, a Server had already appeared at their table to take their drink orders.
I had mentioned to my husband that we were here first and that was frustrating. At this point, I would say we had been sitting almost 10 minutes without any acknowledgment and a perky young server came over and asked if we wanted to order drinks as our server had gotten tied up with the larger party. We decided to not only order drinks, but order our meals as well.
I truly can’t recall, but I believe our food had been delivered or at least our appetizer prior to the assigned server actually came over to say oh hey, I’m sorry I got tied up over with this big party you good?
She did make an effort to swing by one other time we had asked for a refill on a drink. She went about her business and had forgotten, but happened to be walking towards our table, realizing she forgot it and went back to get it.
When I shared that we were all finished and not taking anything home no dessert that we would just like the check she went for the check walked towards the larger table, dropped something quickly ran over and threw the check onto the table at me.
She again came over right as I was pushing the pizza tray out of my way to write the check and she said something to the effect of Oh thanks baby girl. Weird.
In a nutshell, the restaurant has great food, fun and chill vibes. What disappoints me as a prior server is that the size of your party doesn’t really mean anything about the size of your tip, though some people seem to think the larger party the bigger the tip when in reality it’s about your service so this person allowed her coworkers to essentially do her job for her, and yet still kept us as her table.
We’re very easy-going really don’t need too much interaction, but felt completely ignored and forgotten about as she converse and engaged with the bigger party.
In the end, I would recommend going back to Shotti‘s Point as I do believe the food speaks for itself. I guess sharing my story in hopes of this said server, management or others realizes that all parties do matter and that you should be providing the same level of service to every customer Regardless of potential tip size. because you could’ve earned a very generous tip from a party of two and your bigger table. However, in my own experiences, a lot of those bigger tables with the kiddos, especially on vacation are going to leave that table a giant mess and not tip you as good as you had hoped so I guess my question is was...
Read moreI absolutely love the OC location and have really been wanting to try the West OC location. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. They did a fantastic job with the interior renovations. The food was hit and miss with our party though. The NY Strip steak was average at best and overcooked. The marinade tastes like A1 steak sauce. Brussel sprouts, oysters and shrimp and crabcakes were all great. The tuna appetizer was dreadful and nobody liked it. We left 3/4 of it on the plate and communicated with server, but no offer to delete from bill. It had a very strange taste and texture, which is disappointing considering the access to locally caught fresh tuna. Overall, the food was good though and we'll probably be back. It's not inexpensive. Our party of 3 with apps and cocktails was $250 with tip.
We were all a bit taken aback by the "Inflation Fee" clearly printed on the bill. $6? If the food costs more, build it into the price of the item so patrons can decide if it's worth it to them. I can see this rubbing a lot of people the wrong way. It's a...
Read moreI love the new look! Awesome job on putting in a pizza oven! It makes the place more inviting. Now, this was our 1st time there since opening and I'm sure that once the kinks are worked out, I'll be able to change my 4 to a 5-star review. The reason for the 4 is because of the ceviche. It was great with the brightness & heat, but after a few bites, the heat was way too intense for even my husband! And he likes heat, spicy, etc. It was just a bit too much. As far as the rest of the food, was spot on. Generous portions on the tacos & the crab dip was divine! Not too worry, we will be back & I'll update with more pictures from the inside & out. Super glad that Shotti's is in...
