10:52 PM. My friend and I were lying on the couch of her West OC home. Our stomachs rumbled for the taste of pizza, but alas, we had no frozen pizza to heat up and neither of us had enough money on a card to pay for delivery. The endless yearning for the carb-bomb of butchered italian cuisine was too much to handle, our tongues practically begging for a taste. My friend grabbed her phone and ruthlessly typed “pizza near me” and then the holy grail showed up. Pizza Tugos, only a little over a mile away. That would be at most a three minute drive, there was just one small problem.
Neither of us had a car. We had to walk.
With the clothes we were already wearing we set off from her home. The frozen air nipped at the tips of my ears as we traversed the roads, occasionally leaning in a ditch when a car would pass by. After around a mile we met the highway, there weren’t many cars out but to us it felt like a race was going to charge at us the second we step foot onto the asphalt. A deep breath and we sprinted across, adrenaline flowing through our veins with the cold dry air filling our lungs. We were nearly exhausted, cold with the elements getting to us. Once we catched our breath we looked up and our hearts elevated to the stars looking over us from above.
Pizza Tugos. The red lights of the sign called towards us as we glided towards the restaurant. We passed by people smoking outside and after confirming we were just there for carry out we ordered a cheese pizza. We were finally halfway there, we would just have to get back to my friend’s hovel. Grabbing the warm pizza box from the woman serving felt like holding someone you love for the first time in years. We knew we were halfway done, it was only 11:34.
We trekked back, holding the pizza with all of our grip, thankful for what it’ll bring us. In these moments we knew that this whole thing was absurd, we could’ve just had something else for dinner, but we knew that in the end it was worth it. We realized that in this moment the only thing that will truly be there for us is Pizza Tugos. Pizza Tugos was open when noone else was, Pizza Tugos was there for us in our most dire times. When we arrived to the house at around midnight, we reheated the pizza and as we watched it spin around in the microwave we could only weep. Digging our teeth into the pizza shot euphoria through our veins, we were practically transcended, this is what our pilgrimage was for and as the cheese warmed in our mouth we knew that Pizza Tugos truly made it worth it.
Pizza Tugos is what makes life...
Read moreI had the WORST experience with this company. DO NOT recommend at all. It took over 3 hours for delivery- I tried to cancel numerous times- even went there and couldn’t get anyone to help. Now, I’m expected to pay for food that I didn’t get and was WELL past the estimated delivery time.
For full transparency- below is the email I sent AND their reply.
Me: I placed an order yesterday 5/18/25 at 1030pm and was quoted a 30-45 minute delivery. At 1130p I started calling (15+ times) to get an update on the order and every time I called it would hang up on me. At 1145 I went to the store to see if I could just get my pizzas and was told by a VERY rude bartender that my order could not be changed and that a manager will NOT come out and talk to me and that I had call the order number.
At 1:15AM the driver starts BANGING on my hotel door- 3 hours after I ordered!! I told him to take the pizza back- we no longer wanted it.
I called this morning and was told by Diana the “manager” that it wasn’t her problem and all complaints and refund request have gone be sent via email.
This is NOT the first time I have had issues with your restaurant- but I promise it will be the last time. Your west ocean city’s lack of customer service and unprofessionalism is such a bad representation of your brand- and I’m local to Delmarva so I had been here throughout the year and NOT just here on a once a year vacation.
I look forward to your timely response and refund.
Scott at Pizza Tugo: 55000 people leaving a concert, all at about this time. My staff did a great job, but sometimes it’s simply not enough. The priority at that time is the people physically in our restaurants. While we certainly don’t like the long wait times, sometimes it’s unavoidable. We are unable to process a refund, and in all fairness we did make your food and attempt to...
Read moreSo when we got there they said half an hour wait. We're seated in 10 minutes good start. We had our drink orders taken quickly an our food orders were taken right as the drinks were brought to the table. So far so good. Unfortunately it took almost an hour to get our food. We waited as multiple people got the checks an left our area. Three plates came out we were a party of 6 took another 15 minutes for two other plates to come out as well as our boneless wings. We ordered another round of drinks an asked about my son's pizza which they said they didn't put in so my 8 year old had to wait as everyone else was eating. His personal pizza finally came out as the rest of us were finishing our food. Still no drinks about 10 minutes later come the drinks. By this time we are all done eating except my son. Were are patiently waiting on our check an for them to bring us boxes it took so long my dad literally had to find a clean box just sitting around an take it. We all left an my dad waited for the check more time goes by an my dad finally comes out. Food wise, the pizzas were good my moms wrap had a huge piece of chicken in it instead of it being cut up an easy to eat my sub was all bread an hardly any chicken my dad's sub fell apart as he was trying to eat as did my husband's but his bread was also super soggy an he had hardly any fries they also forgot his pickle an ketchup. The boneless wings probably the best part of the meal. The waitress I don't know of she was overwhelmed but she was less...
