I've been shopping at Food Lion for 35 years or more. I started in Concord North Carolina, just up the road from Salisbury, where Food Lion was born. My wife and I spend on average $200 per week at Food Lion. I'm a big fan and generally have a great experience. Tonight was different. There was a big yellow sign in front of the Smithfield pork tenderloins saying buy one get one free. That's typical at Food Lion, they do that often. So I put four pork tenderloins in my cart and when I got to the register, the cashier said they weren't on sale. I said but there's a big yellow sign right in front of them saying buy one get one free. The cashier could not have been nicer. He checked again in the register and said they were not showing up as being on sale. He called over what I assume was a manager and explained the situation. The manager went back and checked and came back and said that I had the wrong item, but the smaller pork tenderloins were the buy one get one free. I walked back with him and pointed out that the sign was right in front of these (see picture) and he very gruffly and rudely said they we're not on sale, these other ones were any pointed to the shelf above them. So I took four from the shelf he pointed to and went back to the cashier. The cashier said the ones I picked out were not on sale either. I said but those were the ones the manager pointed to at which time the manager showed up and said very sternly and rudely, "no I didn't". I responded that yes you did, I was just back there with you and he repeated, again very sternly and rudely, "no I did not". I said fine, just keep them, I'll take the rest of my groceries and go. He did not respond and left the building. I saw him outside when I was loading my car but he did not speak. I feel like I was misled to start with but my real issue is how I was treated as a customer. I'm in the service business myself and I would never treat a customer the way I was treated tonight. No, this won't sour me on Food Lion forever, like I said, I generally have a great experience there. But I felt like this was not right. This food line store, by the way, is in West Ocean City, Maryland...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe people who work at this store are mean spirited and they steal your food if you don't pay attention. I'm a good customer. I shop there on a weekly basis year round and I have for ten years. It would kill the people who work there to ever smile or say a kind word. Today, I bought four pizzas and a bunch of other stuff. It was early in the morning so it wasn't busy. The place was really empty. I am slow, therefore, it took me a long time to load my bags into my trunk and to return the cart. Then, I sat in my car, made a business call and took notes. I was in the parking lot for at least 15 minutes. When I got home I realized two of the pizzas I paid for were missing. You know the cashier had to notice two big frozen pizzas still there while no customers were there to distract him. The kind thing to do for a good customer would be to run out or have another store employee walk out and say "wait miss, you forgot one of your bags." And like I said, I was parked close to the door and in the lot for 15-20 minutes, they had ample time to notice and come out. It leads me to believe, they intentionally stole my food. All the locals hate this store. Its a shame Superfresh closed down. The only reason people shop at food lion is because every other store is a 15 minute drive away or more. Its a dirty store. They use thin cheap bags which break when you try to carry your groceries home. They over pack them so each bag feels like 100 pounds. They never carry good products and the staff treats the customers like garbage!...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI dont know why this Food Lion has western union service's because every time I go there customer service tells me its either not working or another excuse they use is that they dont have enough money in the register to cover the money wire, and that was for $300. So tonight I called before I went there for nothing again, and customer service said the western is closed for the night (9pm), when I know its open till 10pm. The lady was quick to tell me they changed there hours when I told her I received a money wire at 930pm at that store. Out of 25 times I went there to recseeeive money, I was only able to complete the transaction 3 times. Some of the times I went to the Ocean pines food lion and they told me there computer was down, lol. So I had to drive around 20 miles to the Selbyville food lion. If you need a western union, I suggest to go to the food lion in Selbyville on dupoint hwy, it might be out of the way but you wont regret the visit and shopping experience there. Their customer service reps are friendlier, and respect their customers. It seems that the west ocean city branch as well as the one in ocean pines, make excuses for not wanting to go thru with the western union transactions because they want to close it down way to early so that its one less check out they need to do at the end of second shift., or maybe not even open it at all for the day so its one less thing to worry about. What an inconvenience to the customer. They shouldn't have western union services if they dont want to be of...
