First, I want to mention that my mother in-law brought our family here based off of the great reviews we saw. Upon entering, it seemed nice, other than the grumpy couple that stormed past us through the door as they left. We sat at a table near the open back door and viewed our menu's. My only judgements at this point were the uncleaned metal table (it also has a strong smell, but nothing I couldn't get past) and the bathroom was rather dark. The lightbulbs seemed neglected. Again, nothing to complain too much about. We ordered our food and chatted. When our dishes arrived, they looked nice! We were excited to try the food, but just as I began taking my first bites, we were greeted by a bee. My husband is deathly allergic to any type of bee, so we first tried to shoo it away so as not to make a commotion for the other guests around us. When this failed, we calmly switched our table to an open table near the large window. As we sat down, the same bee -or what we thought was the same bee- was back and my husband was starting to lose his cool. He quickly stomped the bee and sat down to relax. At this moment it was almost as dramatic as a horror scene in a film. I looked over at the window sill noticing another bee and pointed it out to my husband sitting next to it, and then I looked around insert screechy high pitched horror music more on the windows, on the floor, some still alive, many dead, others buzzing around in other areas of the bistro. They were not just any honey bee, they were wasps. To add to that, we also noticed a variety of dead bugs and cob webs when we finslly opened our eyes. I had my husband go to the car immediately as my mother inlaw went to mention this to the staff. She first asked for boxes, and after she mentioned we had to leave because there was a wasp infestation and that her son is terribly allergic, the woman at the counter responded, "no worries!" as if there was nothing of concern. Any other restaurant I have gone to would have shown some amount of concern to this and assist their customers. Not here, though! We left in utter disbelief. I wonder if that has something to do with the angry couple I mentioned before. So, with that, I'd 100% recommend this place if you enjoy wasps swarming you and your food but I personally will never again be returning to this bistro. The wasps may only be a seasonal issue, but the lack of cleanliness is a health hazard. As for the food, it looked wonderful, but I did notice the meat in the Reuben was tough. The boiled egg in my salad was overcooked, as well as the bacon. It seemed their cook was nothing more...
Read moreDon’t bother with this place. After visiting the second time and paying too much for poor service and mediocre food, it’s worth moving on. There are so many better places to eat in Ocean Shores that are more deserving of our time and money.
The latest visit was much like the first. We were heading home to Ocean Shores and called ahead to pick up food. We ordered two turkey croissant sandwiches with fruit. They said it would be ready in 20 minutes. We arrived in 20 minutes and the food was not ready. The total time was nearly 40 minutes for cold sandwiches.
When my containers were brought out, the cook then put up two plates for people dining in. The man behind the counter was inattentive and wiping down a counter not aware food was up. Even though I had been waiting for nearly ten minutes, the lady working then brought the two plates out to the dining room before taking 30 seconds to bag up my containers! She then returned with one of the plates and I overheard her telling the cook that she had made a mistake on one of the plates.
When I raised my concern about the wait time, the man spouted a rote apology and said the day had been busy. I replied that if you know that, you don’t tell customers it will be a 20 minute wait when it’s really 40! I followed up by saying they need more or different help. The problem is not that it was busy but that they just didn’t know how to run the place. We don’t mind paying extra for a great experience in return but this place just doesn’t have it.
Being angry with this experience and the excuses, I left and received a patronizing “Have a great day.”, from them as I left. This thinly veiled dismissive sarcasm was just another reason why this place will continue to struggle meeting it’s potential and why we will...
Read moreSuper cute place, love the service and atmosphere. However, so very disappointed by the food. We ordered avocado toast and we recommend not ordering it or if the business owner sees this review please take it to heart and change how you serve this! Nobody wants deconstructed avocado toast. It should be served ready to eat and it wasn't. We had to mash our own avocado which whatever wasn't that big of a deal, but the menu says it comes with charred tomatoes which I was excited for thinking it would be a wonderful flavor spin, but no - tomatoes came warmed, not charred, with the balsamic drizzled on top and mind you they were huge pieces served on the side, not something you could cut up or add on top to your toast, they also served pickled asparagus on the side and plain sping mix salad on the side. It was so disappointing and honestly I'm still mad about it and had this like 2 weeks ago. For the love please please just serve avocado toast ready and easy to eat and if you plan to keep the charred tomatoes actually char them or make your life easier and just keep them fresh and dice them up and put them on the toast. I will say your bacon was good, wish it was crispier though. I think I would come back here and try something else, I just advise to others dont order the deconstructed avocado toast. Again, owners if you read these please please change the toast 🙏 if you do, let me know and I'll drive up just to try it and change my review. Oh and forgot to say the self serve water needs to be monitored more, when we poured our waters there was a weird film at the top and we ended up not drinking them.
Kudos to the pride...
