WATCH THE PRICES! THE OWNER(S) ENGAGE IN FALSE & PREDATORY PRICING PRACTICES!
My biggest complaint about the Ocean Shores Dollar Store is they routinely charge more for an item than what is listed on the shelf. For example, I bought a small pack (5pk) of miniature Kit Kats, priced on the shelf at $1.35. I was changed $3.95 at the register. I bought 4 cans of sardines listed as 4 for $4 on a huge sign, and I was charged $5 at the register. Beware of the prices when you shop here.
Make sure to tell the Cashier to say what the price of each item is BEFORE they ring it up! I repeat, for each item you have in your cart, have the cashier tell you what the prices are BEFORE THEY RING IT UP! If you do this, you will save an average of $5 per visit!
I suspect that the owner(s) of the store intentionally place lower prices on the shelf and do not ensure the prices at the point of sale reflect the shelf prices. I have a hunch that they do this on purpose because they can make hundreds, thousands of a day with false and predatory pricing schemes. There is no doubt that the owner(s) are taking advantage of poor and struggling folks.
I will be reporting this store to the Better Business Bureau, and other watchdog entities, because this “nickel and diming,” and false pricing, is essentially theft, predatory and immoral.
Aside from the corrupt pricing issues, the other problem with Dollar Store (Ocean Shores, WA) is the messiness of the store itself. There's food and products all over the place. Products on the floor in the middle of the isles. A reviewer said they walked into chaos when they visited, and I agree. There has not been one time I visited this Dollar General and saw an empty floor, tidy shelves and CORRECT PRICES! I'm concerned that the food could be stored in a rat infested backroom.
I am providing one star are for the friendly staff. It seems like they are over their head, and have their hands tied behind their back when it comes to the false and predatory pricing. They also seem to be severely underpaid. And this is why they don't really care about the appearance of the store. I don't blame them. They are not paid enough to keep things in order, especially when they are probably being preyed upon too.

Read moreNever had a bad experience here, staff is incredibly nice. Great selection at great prices. The ONLY thing i have a problem with is that you can only add money to your card after an hour from the last person. Everytime I've gone there on 3 separate occasions I haven't been able to add money to my card. This last time they told me they couldn't do it right now, I decided to wait. I spent a half hour in my car because the cashier said they cannot do it until 4:30 so I waited. I came in at 4:27 to get in line and I was seen at 4:29 and apparently the person ahead of me got to do it right before me. The frustration I'm feeling is immeasurable and this has been a great inconvenience all around. They say the only reason it's an hour between each customer is that's the only way they can track potential fraud, which I understand. But they need to think of a new system for tracking it because this is bullshit. It wouldn't be so bad if the only other alternative wasn't an hour round trip to hoquiam. Aside from this I have no complaints, but damn is this...

This is the new version of a Genuine General Store Dollar General is trying to pickup where the five and dimes and Woolworths left off. They literally have almost everything under the sun. It's not a dollar but you don't have to drive 20 miles to the next town to go to Walmart. Thank God ! The people are very friendly and helpful. If they don't have what you want, they will order it for you, Now that's small town friendly. They also have a Western Union there and it works great. Masks are required and they spray counters between customers. So if it's your first time enjoy yourself, you really will be surprised at how much they have. Thanks for reading. Jim...
