If I could leave a 0 star review I would. But because I can't I will say this place is terrible. I ran out of characters when I originally typed this because so many things are just wrong. My party of 4 arrived (including myself) and I will admit we didn't need to wait long since it wasn't too busy - but I'm willing to attribute that to what I could only assume were regulars based on bits and pieces of conversations I genuinely did not mean to overhear. Once seated we were offered water and tea which we accepted, then we were given time to choose our meals. I then went to the bathroom which had a sign that said the wheelchair accessible stall was out of order. When I went to the only other stall available I noticed a glaring issue which is it doesn't actually lock. I tried my hardest to lock the door (a barrel bolt lock) however no matter where I put pressure the metal piece was too far misaligned with the hole to slide in. This is a priority issue they need to address, when someone walked in I had to stick my foot under the door to signify the stall was taken that way they wouldn't just open the stall and see me. Regardless I went to wash my hands but one sink looked like it had some stains or something of the sort which could be considered a nit pick but there was luckily another one. I walked back to my seat and was informed by my party members that the busser was quite unprofessional. I personally didn't see him but they had mentioned he wore a jacket around his waist, was younger, and had the attitude of "I'd rather be anywhere else than here". Now here's where the main issue started. One of my party members had originally tried to order one of the soup options on the menu, however they had let her know all soups were unavailable. We were offered egg drop soup as complimentary (which is contradicory) but I immediately was able to tell it was straight from a can and or processed in some way. It was way too gelatinous and lacked any real flavor. I wasn't able to eat too much due to the heat but when it did finally cool down I was severely disappointed. We didn't have to wait long for our main food which usually is a plus however that should have been a red flag. It was so quick due to the fact that the food was nothing more than processed frozen reheated packaged items, from a can, or just tossed together in a sad and honestly pathetic attempt to mask any and all low effort attempts of quality since they clearly don't know what they're doing in the kitchen. Whoever the cook is - fire them. We saw our food and the look of excitement and joy on our faces from a day of fun and hunger immediately was slapped off by the presentation alone. One of out party members had ordered the number 4 and the almond chicken chow mein that was apart of that plate was barely edible and had a slimey look to it, the pork fried rice was incredibly bland even with soy sauce, the fried shrimp was astonishingly bad, it was nothing more than a shrimp dumped in an unnecessary amount of batter with no seasonings or even butter, and lastly the sweet and sour pork was sickingly sweet. It was one of the only things that actually had flavor to it and they managed to overdo it. One of of our other party members had ordered the house sizzling Platter which was the only one of all 4 of our plates to be decent. Not many notes on that one. My friend and I ordered the same thing with one difference. I ordered the shrimp chow mein while she got the vegetarian equivalent. They tasted the exact same. Mine didn't even have a hint of the shrimp it came with. The other servers were quick to fix the issues though and were apologetic, they took our flavor recommendations and when it came back it was considerably better. The hostess in particular was an absolute delight. She seemed older with blonde hair and if you see her be sure to compliment her excessively. All this to say it could have been better and we were all sad. Don't get the bubble tea it is also too sweet, this is coming from someone who works in a family owned establishment as a...
Read moreI really, really wanted to like this place. I love Chinese food, prefer more casual places, and I'm local. I'm also not a picky eater, but this is the worst Chinese food I've ever had. Ever. I placed my order around 5PM on a Wednesday and was told it would take at least thirty minutes; ordered General Tso's Chicken and Sweet and Sour Pork, two meals off of the dinner menu. . I arrived within thirty-five minutes, picked up my food, and drove ten minutes home. Food was still warm when I got home, and that was all it had going for it. General Tso's chicken was bland, had a mildly sweet flavor. It also crunched (and not in a good way) due to the dryness of the chicken inside (chewy texture) and overcooked coating. It was like eating something that had been sitting under a heat lamp overnight or reheated for too long in the microwave. And FYI, General Tso's Chicken is "supposed" to be a relatively sweet and spicy dish - menu even lists it as "spicy", and it was quite flavorless. The taste of old, dried meat and breading was coming through the strongest, and I couldn't finish it. . I tried some of the Sweet & Sour Pork - same thing. Only it was significantly chewier, and not in a good way, and was even less flavorful than the TS Chicken. . The noodles were just noodles (I had paid an upcharge to switch out my fried rice for noodles), no seasoning or added vegetable or anything to the noodles. Just plain boiled noodles, sticky and also flavorless. . Already pricey for what it is, and I am incredibly disappointed. I have worked in the food service industry as a food server for over ten years in my past, and have rarely ever complained. . The food I was delivered today is not edible. I wouldn't even feed it to my dog. . This is The. Worst. Takeout. I....
Read moreThis Chinese restaurant is absolutely stunning, with real-deal affordable delicious Chinese food. The waitress and owner really made us feel like one happy family. Even the comfy chairs had a impact on the relaxing feeling as we ate. Our food came in just ten minutes, tasting very fresh. Also, the portion size was humongous, each person in my family couldn't finish our meals, and we are really eat a lot. We ordered the dinner combination #6 (pork fried rice, BBQ pork, seaseme chicken, and fried shrimp), Mongolian beef, and kung pao family (kung pao chicken, beef, and shrimp). The complimentary egg drop soup was full of flavor with well cooked veggies. From the taste, it was broth-based, which is something most Chinese restuarsnts don't offer. The pork fried rice really tasted authentic and wasn't deep fried; the BBQ pork was flavorful and had a nice crispy edge. The fried shrimp was crispy yet juicy, and tasted fresh. The seaseme chicken with the sauce was a mix of crisp and flavor. The Mongolian beef was incredibley tender and the vegetables smothered with sauce were quite savory. The kung pao sauce was a little too sour, but was very rich. The beef we a little undercooked, but the shrimp and the chicken were cooked to have a nice chewy texture. The zucchini blended well with the sauce, and was nice and soft but crisp. All in all, this restaurant is definitely a must-try in the town of ocean-shore. Eating here again if we come back...
