Home port appears clean meat and well kept up. There is free parking in front of the restaurant, and it can easily be seen from the street. There is a large sign out in front with specials clearly apparent. Even so, it doesn't look tacky or eclectic. Like most restaurants when you 1st walk in it's a little dark, but a hostess treat you and your soon seated at a table of your pleasure. When is it things I always order at seafood restaurants is clam chowder, so I started off with that . I continued to order my meal off of the appetizer menu. I ordered an order of France and an order of bacon skins. Another one of my party ordered deep fried macaroni and cheese, and yet another member of my party ordered fish-and-chips. I scrutinize the clam chowder soup because that's mostly what I came to sample. Being home of the razor neck clam capital of the world, I look forward to some good soup. The clams themselves were outstanding, the potatoes were cut to a good size piece, I couldn't find the onions in the soup, but I was sure they were there, there was no bacon in the soup which I always marked down. The spices were fine and you could always see the flakes of the parsley. All in all I would give this clam chowder a rating of 9. I think it might have been higher had it had the bacon in it. The deep fried macaroni and cheese was rated at sums up, as was the the fish-and-chips. I loved the deep fried prawns they were the probably the best I've ever eaten anywhere. They were larger than average size 10 on the order, lightly breaded, and they were not overcooked they were yummy. The potato skins I found to be only average. Although a generous amount of sour cream was provided, it wasn't enough to cover the overcooked big potato skins and the lackluster hors d'oeuvres. The restrooms are clean enough, but what I found a great attraction of the restaurant to be was the personnel and the friendliness of the staff. I requested a drink from the bar and was treated with a very tasty and wonderful drink. This service was prompt and courteous. I would come back to this restaurant for the clam chowder alone, or the wonderful prawns! Moreover it would be much easier to come back to this wonderful rest rod due to do wonderful people I find so friendly here. By the way I have come back to the restaurant this week and had more clam chowder and more I'll call it beverages from the bar. My response is the same as it was for my 1st visitt to the restaurant---wonderful!

Update Feb-2022: awesome dinner on a Tuesday. A new favorite was the French dip, I must point the local coconut cream pie was out of this world! and the razor clamp was still my go to meal. See my photos Update Sep-2020: I am glad the home port is back open. The food was great. We had an awesome meal! Fried prawns, razor clams chicken parmigiana and fresh oyster. The kale/sausage soup was a great option for our baby. I love how the utensils were wrapped carefully (see photo). They are being excellent maintaining clean and family friendly restaurant. Attentive and considered staff. Update Aug-2019: We came for dinner on a Monday, even though service was a little slow they still maintained consistency with their meals. Captain’s platter was still an excellent choice and potato skins were awesome, razor clam appetizer paired with “home port breeze” cocktail. Update Apr-2019: Razor clamp dinner was awesome paired with shock top in draft. See photo Update Jun-2018: The prime rib was excellent! They can make you a Cesar salad with smoked salmon, which they smoke in house!! Update Jan-2018: Captain’s plate was a great choice. They had razor clamp sample. This is a local treat! My recommendations: Appetizers: the oyster platter. Get the cheeseburger - it is excellent! The chicken Parmesan - so delicious! Nice atmosphere, family friendly and accommodating hosts and servers.

Edit: update is from 8/23 initial review is below, but it feels like the quality has been slipping lately, and they're closed during weekdays now it seems, even over summer time as of 8/23 :( What an amazing breakfast! My wife and I stumbled into this gem after getting our limits of razor clams on Copalis Beach the night before. We both had the Alder Smoked Salmon Benedict and we split the razor clam and eggs sample which was a great way to try the dish without committing to the full order. Once it arrived, I immediately regretted not ordering the full order :-) The Alder smoked salmon benedict was really, really good. We're so used to having this with lox that the change up to hardwood smoked salmon was a phenomenal change of pace. The salmon was delicious and the eggs were perfect! The clam sample was incredible- tender, sweet, flavorful, just a treat. Next time I'm getting this for sure! The only bad part of this experience was seeing all the empty tables yet having to wait due to staff shortages. Really over this pandemic, a restaurant like this deserves to be able to serve more people it's delicious food. Highly recommended!

We arrived to this establishment (Feb. 14, 2015) and were seated. A very nice young lady came to take our drink order and returned stating, "your server will be with you in a minute" which gave us time to peruse the menu. My significant other settled on a Crab Louie and a double shot of Grey Goose(drink arrived prior to placing meal order) and I wanted chicken parmesan with vegetables instead of noodles. Our server arrived and we placed our order to instantly be told, "we are out of crab" so my significant other settled on a shrimp Louie. I informed our server of an allergy to shellfish and placed my order. He disappeared to the kitchen and after approximately 2 minutes returned to our table and stated, "the cook can not guarantee that no shellfish was cooked in the pan today." I then asked what they recommended and he said, "the safest is a salad.". To this the young man was informed that I was diabetic and had to have protein... He then suggested a steak. As I don't eat much red meat, this was not an appealing $29.00 option. I asked what the steak was cooked on... He said " the grill" to which I inquired if seafood was ever cooked on that grill... He said "no.". At this point I had to ask the obvious question, " you mean to tell me that your kitchen does not wash its pans all day?" I was shocked, horrified and quite frankly grossed out when he responded with a small laugh, "no, they don't.". At this point we asked for the bill for the beverage and we received a $16.00 check. We paid and left. Now, I myself have worked in the restaurant industry... Granted quite some time ago, but some things never change. You wash your pans and utensils in the kitchen as cross contamination is a huge no no and as for the bill for the beverage... That should have been comped, if for no other reason than embarrassment. We will NEVER set foot in this establishment again and my next email will be to the health department so something can be done before they make someone sick. I HIGHLY suggest you find another establishment to eat in while in...

Stopped in this morning to grab a breakfast, wife ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs, eggs scrambled and with a biscuit. I ordered the sausage link and 2 egg breakfast, egg’s over easy and a biscuit. My breakfast was PERFECT. Literally every aspect of my meal was OUTSTANDING! In fact, I would go so far as to say it was the best breakfast I’ve had in Ocean Shores since we’ve lived here for the last 7 yrs… eggs were cooked perfectly with the yolks runny yet the whites cooked through, comes with 3 plump sausage links they were juicy and hot, the hash browns with perfectly cooked with a golden crunchy top and bottom, coffee was hot and the server was promptly keeping it filled. The wife’s breakfast was less than perfect at first, her scrambled eggs, biscuit, and hash browns were as PERFECT as mine however, she didn’t care for the chicken fried steak… she said it tasted borderline spoiled. She notified our server and asked if possible to replace the chicken fried steak with bacon, as it has a sour taste, borderline spoiled…. Our waitress thanked her for information, told her she can most certainly replace it with bacon, my wife said everything else is fine and can stay, the server took the plate, brought back her biscuit and a small bowl of gravy while her plate got remade with bacon, a short time later, she brings the wife a fresh plate with bacon, scrambled eggs, hash browns and a biscuit. Her meal was just as perfectly done as mine. My wife was extremely happy and the server was super polite and kind and apologetic. The table was clean, the utensils had water spots on them but were clean, the booth seats were comfortable and clean. Water and ice tasted clean and good, ample condiments for coffee and breakfast. We will be going back, this breakfast was very an iconic diner breakfast and it...
