Great shop in Ocean Township. I encourage all local residents to support this business. The story is simply this, it's easy for everyone to be nice and kind on a full stomach, I know this can sound a bit ambiguous so let me explain. It's hard time for all business (due to Covid-19), resources along with their supply chains have come to a halt, lost jobs and a bad economy all around. Some businesses, however have substantially increased their prices and people struggling are having a tougher time affording basic goods from shops trying to squeeze as much as they can from their clients. Your miles may vary and it's hard to understand the full reasoning behind this, some of it may be justified as these items become more scarce, but I've personally seen some ridiculous prices out there. Whatever the reasons may be, it's worth noting that Scoops stands strong in its community, providing support and keeping their cost fair. It's important to remember the businesses that stand to play a stronger role in their community, that do well by their clientele. It's noble, it's rare. Their prices remain fair and they completely refuse to even take tips, understanding that we are all in this together. This is sending a strong message, so if you're in Ocean township with a sweet tooth, this is the shop to support. Friendly staff and great ice cream. To the owner/management there......
Read moreI went on Sunday 6/4 around 6:45 PM. The two young women working behind the counter had terrible customer service skills and were rude. They were rolling their eyes at each other as customers were ordering and even smirking at times. They just had an attitude of not wanting to be there and seemed bothered by simple requests such as asking for a receipt or a top to carry ice cream to go.
Additionally, the ice cream looked old and half of the flavors werenât available. I understand they just opened 3 weeks ago and are probably still figuring out the correct volume of inventory based on demand but when half the flavors are out and the ones remaining are below 50% tells me someone isnât being methodical on keeping tabs on their inventory.
It was sad to hear another customer notice these same things and outwardly make a comment of âweâre not coming back here again.â
Ultimately, logistics and inventory can improve. Those two young women working the evening of 6/4 need to be counseled on appropriate work ethic and being kind to customers. If they were my employees Iâd be very worried about their attitudes...
Read moreI've been to their location on Shrewsbury Avenue many times.
This is not the same experience. In addition to a couple of other orders, I ordered a large milkshake. It was 2/3 full when handed to me. I asked the guy behind the counter if he could put it in a small cup and charge me for a small. He handed it back to the girl that made it and said that I asked for more. She gave me an attitude, added to the beverage, but it still wasn't full. The floors were disgusting, covered in stuff that was sticking to my shoes. I gave the guy $20 cash for the order. I guess he expected a $6 tip for his efforts. When I asked for my change, he looked puzzled.
No more local Ryan's for me. I'd rather drive further and have a great experience at Courtney's Ice Cream in Avon and drive...
