UPDATE: 8/24 ...Happy Hour is NOT available on the Patio any longer Boo! -- BAR area only... Mum is a bit disappointed, she loves an early HH under a Pergola. Still, great place for a lovely meal with outstanding service. Had to remove one star for the HH change.
Perfect Patio Dining Under the Pergola and the BEST Happy Hour!
TL;DR. Northeast Seafood Kitchen and their lovely patio is definitely worth checking out - catch the daily Happy Hour 4:30-6pm on the patio and you should have a wonderful time!If you're having dinner, do try the craveable house bread & honey butter! Warning: it's addictive.
UPDATE: 2023 -- Still a wonderful happy hour on the patio at Northeast and at the bar. Sidney, our server is the BEST! Mom says thank you for bringing back the NESK chicken! She loves it!
Northeast Seafood Kitchen in lovely Ocean View is made of AMAZING! This tasty restaurant & bar is located off of Atlantic Ave (Rt.26) very close Bethany Beach and is part of the Sodel Concepts group.
We've always liked this place, but they really stepped it up during the COVID crisis. They quickly created a wonderful Curbside take out online ordering menu via the ChowNow app and designated Curbside parking for kitchen to car easy breezy dining. Then, as things opened up, they expanded their outside dining on the patio with lovely all weather tent and heaters.
Daily Happy Hour is from 4:30 to 6pm at the bar and on the patio and is a super deal with specials on food and drink..
Now that most all restrictions are lifted, we still love to dine outside under the pergola. This past Thursday we were enjoying beautiful San Diego style weather and took Dad out for an early Father's Day dinner. Madison, our friendly & efficient server took great care of us.
We started with a half pound of steamed shrimp. They arrived in just minutes (service on the patio is great!) large sized, steamed perfectly, and sprinkled with Old Bay. YUM! Dad had the Baltimore Flash Fried Shrimp, Mom had the Happy Hour Fish and Chips and I had the HH Shrimp Fra Diavolo. All were served promptly after our starter and were delicious.
The patio is such a wonderful place to enjoy gorgeous weather at the beach. Sometimes there's a family of deer who make an appearance in the park like field adjacent to the patio. It doesn't get any better than this!
My only suggestion, because we do like the salads so much, too - is to have an added protein option. Many restaurants have salads and at the top of the menu they offer an added protein. (Here's an example from Hammerheads Dockside) -ADD PROTEIN TO ANY SALAD- ROASTED CHICKEN BREAST $5 | BLACKENED CHICKPEAS $4 BLACKENED SHRIMP $11 | CRAB CAKE $MKT | LOBSTER $14 BLACKENED TUNA OR MAHI $11) To get grilled chicken on a Caesar salad at Northeast you have to buy an entree Chicken and hope for the best.
Otherwise, this is our favorite place for outside dining! I hope they bring back the tent this fall. We were dining out there up through December, January, February...OK, basically...
Read more3 Sundays ago we were coming back home from a trip to NJ. Did not feel like grocery shopping, so we decided to pop into NSK (up until that night, one of our favorite places to eat) for a quick dinner. What a mistake. Colby is no longer there, and the experience was awful. Waitress did not know how the lobster claw appetizer special was served, so gave us faulty info. The spinach side dish did not taste like it was sautéed in oil, as described on the menu. It tasted like boiled spinach with some mushrooms thrown on top! My husband's scallops were good, but he said the bread was not tasty like it usually was. I must tell you that I grew up in Massachusetts, so eating lobster is nothing new to me, so you must believe me when I say that I could hardly crack those lobster claws, they were so old and hard. And when I finally got one open, the meat was dry and tasteless! It was like the special of the night was leftovers from several days before! We are very upset and disappointed with the slide in quality. And we noticed a few days afterwards an ad in the local paper, The Coastal Point, and the NSK was not listed as a Matt Haley restaurant anymore. Too bad. It was one of the best, now I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The manager of the evening, to whom we gave our complaints, did take the cost of the lobster and the spinach off of our bill, but it will be a long time before we go back to NSK. To be perfectly fair, we did go back again on August 16, and had our usual wonderful meal. Look for my review of that night on Yelp. I send sincere sympathy to the biological family and to the entire restaurant family of Matt Haley on his untimely death in India. May he rest in peace, and may his legacy in Sussex County, DE, live on for a...
Read moreCan I just say wow! The food was amazing. I started with Clam chowder that was close to the best I have ever had. Creamy deliciousness. My friend had the mussels and I tried those - plump and tasty. It looked like it could be a meal all on its own. The main was scallops. I can confidently say they were the best I have ever had. Cooked to perfection over potatoes and asparagus. I couldn’t finish the potatoes but there was nothing else left. I will definately be back. I would put the restaurant in my top 10. Highly recommend it - get a reservation. I wish I had taken pictures but I was starving.
Update: I tried to contact Nicole but the email address came back an invalid.
Northeast seafood kitchen in my favorite restaurant in the area. Almost everything is executed with precision and excellence. I had the braised short ribs 1 plate out of the available 8. The person next to me at the bar ordered it also and returned it as tooo salty. I went to salty rim for margaritas before went to NESK, but I don’t think it skewed my pallet. I didn’t find it too salty. The risotto and gravy with spinach was excellent. I found the short rib while pealably tender not to be the degree of tenderness and flavor I expect from short rib like I have had from other top notch restaurants. While it was a reasonable first effort, it needs some work. It was too tough and not rally very flavorful. My two cents. I love your...
