Passing through the area while heading to the park and wanted to grab a bite, so I stopped by Alberto’s Mexican Food which was nearby.
Alberto’s Mexican Food is located just off of North River Rd. in Oceanside, Ca. It is in a shopping plaza that has a few other franchise eateries and a Dollar Store. Parking in this plaza is rather limited, but thank goodness that most of the traffic comes and goes pretty quickly.
Alberto’s is a good spot to stop by and pick up lunch or even grab some plates To-Go if you live in the area. Due to its size and limited seating available, I would not recommend this place to bring a date or to impress someone. The interior is clean and leans towards a “hole in the wall” Mexican diner. It’s a little crammed and not great for groups, but instead, favors a customer who just wants to eat & go.
Where Alberto’s Mexican Food shines is their portions. At first I was taken aback by their prices; it was $3.50 for a carnitas taco alone. But when I saw the size of the taco, I understood why the pricing. This IS NOT a street taco place. The taco WILL NOT fit in your hand! For me, one taco was good enough and thank goodness I didn’t order any sides (I was stuffed).
They also had a great fish taco Special Deal for $5 (plus tax). Their fish tacos were crispy, cooked through and still tender and seasoned decently. There was also an abundance of of shredded lettuce, tomato’s, green onions and a nice sauce. I would recommended adding that squeeze of lime and a few dashes of their house hot-sauce to add that zing!
They carry an assortment of favorite drinks, including: Jamaica, Horchata and Tamarindo and their medium cup size is perfect.
Overall, I can recommend Alberto’s Mexican Food for a good sizeable plate of authentic Mexican food. Don’t go there thinking to get some small street tacos for $2. Their portions are great and reasonably priced...
Read moreLong story short: -Barely warm food Cheap on the meat and fatty meat Rude service My wife barely made it home (45mimute drive back home) to throw up and use the bathroom (this is the reason of the review on top of the other disappointments)
Smelled like a public pool inside of the place. Doors were wide open and flies/ gnats were getting inside. The "salsa bar" was not cold enough for the salsas, it was warm salsa and very little amount of salsa in the metal trays.
I don't complain much about food but this for sure has to be my least favorite Albertos. I will not be visiting this place again, regardless if my family or I are hungry.
$35 for a burrito with extra meat and an order of asada fries. The burrito was flavorful buy very little meat and half was fat. Not to mention, it was barely warm and dripping out salsa from the bottom.
Asada fries were barely warm and very little fries. Very upsetting for the...
Read moreThis is by far the worse customer service! I ordered carne asada burrito and I said sour cream, cheese and avocado only, also ordered breakfast burrito with sausage, potato and eggs only. When I got home,it was full of pico de gallo in the carne asada, and full of cheese in my husband's breakfast burrito who's lactose intolerance.I went back to this place and as soon as I got there the cook was in the front counter and said to me "WHAT??" Explaining to him what was wrong ,and just walked away from me,he then called the cashier she then talked to me and asked me what's wrong? So I explained her what happened, And she stood there and told me Basically I'm a liar! Bad bad bad customer service and shame on you both! I just said keep the food and the money! Never again will we return to you! When the customer asked you for specific ingredients for their food they are not being picky, it's because they get sick consuming...
