I went here on their second day open. The workers were very nice and the dining room was very clean. We placed our order and they made Szechuan chicken for me even though it wasn’t on the menu, it was excellent and nice and spicy and a huge portion. My friend ordered sesame buns and Szechuan eggplant, we had to wait 15 minutes for the buns to be made. When I checked the order in the car the buns were missing and the girl had put egg and green onion on the receipt instead. I went back in and told them and they apologized and told us we could keep the dumplings for free, so we had to wait another 15 minutes for the buns to be made. When we got home we realized that the eggplant was missing from the receipt and bag. I’m not sure what the problem with the girl that took our order was but they only got one thing right on the order. It was nice of them to say you can keep the dumplings for free but they were almost twice the price of the buns. I will try this place again but not right now because all new restaurants have many issues when they’re first starting out. The blonde does need more training and maybe should repeat the order to the customer. There were 2 things that I did not like about the place as I was waiting inside and that was, it was very cold in there and the music was extremely loud. Make sure you check your order completely before walking out...
Read moreFinally got around to trying Joyee's for the very first time. I was excited to see a new dumpling house open up in the vicinity that actually had a few more vegetarian based options, something that for some unknown reason is hard to find around here. The meal started off on the wrong foot, however, with literally the worst classic milk tea boba drink I think I've ever had in my life, and that's saying quite a bit. The boba tasted days old (I'm sure it was) and the milk tea wasn't much better. The overall drink tasted, well, just not pleasant. I was hoping that was a fluke but upon getting home the meal wasn't much better. I did think the chive and egg dumplings were okay but the tofu in brown sauce really was really nothing I'd ever brag about nor want again, and even the white rice tasted like it had been sitting around for days, now hardened with a yellowy tint. I try to be open with new food establishments, usually giving them 2 shots before I say "never again", but this one was poor enough that I wouldn't waste my time or money on a second trial. Speaking of which, at a $50 price point take out meal for 2 people, I wouldn't even want this for half the amount. Kung Fu Noodle is waaay better so I'd encourage checking them out instead if you haven't already done so but I really do wish they'd...
Read moreWe love Joyee’s dumpling house for fresh Chinese food options including things like dumplings, ma po tofu, and some American Chinese options like orange chicken.
Our go to is the orange chicken and we have been rotating through trying other things. The orange chicken is divine, crunchy, tangy, and sweet.
The ma po tofu is pretty good - the texture of the tofu is perfect and it has a bit of numbing to it; however, it was missing some salt the last time we had it. Not sure if this was a fluke or not.
We tried the Mongolian beef which was tender and had nice veggies in it - it was a bit over seasoned with pepper but I ended up making the leftovers into a killer fried rice.
The walnut shrimp was also tasty - the shrimp were big and plump. It was missing a little bit of salt. The walnuts were fresh and caramelized.
The staff is very nice and accommodating. The service overall is excellent.
The one downside is that both times we have come later in the evening and it has been quite cold in the restaurant. The door was kept open even at night. Even with a sweater I was ready to get going so I...
