They set the standard.....
I've been gone from this area for almost 14 years and now that I'm back this place reminds me of home. (Home being the Tri State area.)
Decor- The curve appeal of this place draws you into its doors and the moment you walk in everything shouts fresh, modern, industrial design and color scheme. This place is New Yorkish vibe/Philly Vibe. The designer and owner did a great job on selecting every piece of furniture, fixtures and colors. They are a trend setting resturant and every other restaurant in this area needs to step up their game in appearance and food freshness.
Service- Great waitress and very knowledgeable about the menu items and described them to the T. The only curve ball I threw at her was asking about spices which I knew it would be hard to answer for her but I just threw it in there for fun. She was nice attentive and spoke both English and Spanish fluently. So, language barrier won't be a problem here. She also talked shop with us and it was nice to chat with her.
Food- Now the most important part about this post... Phenomenal. I personally had the Ceviche De Camarón and I would add the words Y mas... Because I had hints of pulpo in their too. Fresh ingredients from veggies to fish. Not only was it fresh but you can actually taste the sea. It's a taste you have to look for when eating and believe me it was present and made my taste buds happy. I guarantee everything else on their menu is just as good and just as fresh. If they get it right with their name and what they are known for they will get it right with anything else.
The only downside to this experience is one very simple takeaway. I would recommend to the Chef to make the salsa drizzle on/in the Ceviche an option and not be part of it and here is why...
For someone like me that understands that taste and knows the taste very well it sits well with my taste buds and everything that's going on in my mouth. Now, for someone that doesn't know the taste to well it can honestly rub them the wrong way and lead you to a bad review and getting a plate sent back. Think of it as Tamarindo. It's great candy for us that have that acquired taste already in us from eating Pelón pelo rico but give that same candy to a newbie it's a hit or miss. I would just make that simple recommendation.
Aside from just that one thing, this place is amazing all-around and I would highly recommend you stop by and check it out. Bring your family, friends, college students and millennials, this is a nice hangz...
Read moreThe reception and service are friendly and quick. The waitresses are attentive and very kind, 10/10. Despite it being a busy day, the food is delivered quickly and is delicious. However, I don't give it 5 stars for the following reason: when ordering a soda, they give you a bottle or a can depending on what you order. However, I don't think it includes a refill, so the cost can be high. Another point is their shrimp cocktail. If you usually eat it when the shrimp isn't cleaned, go ahead. In my case, everywhere I've been, the shrimp always comes open and clean, so I asked for it to be removed. For the main course, I ordered a Beef Culichi, which was very good, 9.5/10. The only problem is the excess sauce. The atmosphere today was filled with musicians. I don't know if it's always like that, but I think the space is small for the excessive noise they have. Besides, it takes them a long time to start a song; it seems like they're rehearsing. (The music is good if you want to scream.) That can make communication a little difficult with both the guests and the waitresses. In conclusion, I recommend the place. It's comfortable and pretty, the food isn't bad at 9/10 (I don't recommend the shrimp cocktail), and the...
Read moreFirst and foremost....the food was amazing!! We will definitely return! We came in on a Friday night just as the Mariachi's were coming in to play for the night. This is definitely a spot where people come out to have a couple of drinks and have some Mexican style seafood. Every plate that came out looked tempting! I enjoyed the Camarones Culichi! This was a creamy green sauce that reminded me of green chicken enchilada sauce but with shrimp chunks inside topped with melted white cheese. It had a side of fine chopped lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, and onions. The style of rice reminded me of Cozumel style rice (white rice with corn). This plate was hot and delicious! On another note, the Torre de Mariscos was refreshing and amazing as well! If you are a seafood lover, you much try this! Top it off with some churros...
