The Supreme Croissant from Jack in the Box was my favorite breakfast sandwich growing up. I have not had one since moving to Utah so it has been maybe 10 years. With the opening of the Ogden location I was excited to finally get one.
I went through the drive thru. Not too many cars. Wait a little longer per car than expected but tolerable. Ordered just the supreme croissant.
Got home, noticed the sandwich is a little on the light side. Opened it up. Thought "What the hell is this?" It looks small. Not tiny, but smaller than it used to be. The croissant looks wrong. More like a bun than a croissant. It's also just ham and egg. Maybe they gave me the wrong sandwich? Moderately annoyed, I drove back to the store.
Found a manager in the parking lot. Showed him the sandwich. He said it was the right size, but made incorrectly and he would fix it. Brought me a new one a few minutes later. Offered me a slice of cheesecake which was nice, but I declined. Went back home.
Opened up the sandwich. Still seems small, but at least it's now got everything on it. Found some eggshells. Yuck, but at least I know they use real eggs.
Took a bite. Croissants can be described many ways. Buttery. Flakey. Ideally decadent. But this is after all fast food, so I will be satisfied with good.
This croissant was chewy. Almost rubbery. Not good.
In addition, the sandwich tasted faintly soapy. Knowing continuing was probably a bad idea, I took another bite. Still soapy. Nostalgia urging me on, I took one more bite. I finally accepted that this was a terrible sandwich, spat out the bite, and...
Read moreSecond time eating jack in the box since they have opened in Utah and this time it was literally five minutes ago and I can’t believe how ridiculously expensive and small The portions have become at Jack-in-the-Box. I ordered the classic wedges that are loaded and it literally came with like four fries and I’m pretty sure it was suppose to be larger and the employee just doesnt care or wasn’t trained on how much food they throw together. I wish I had taken a picture because I’m serious when I say 4 fry wedges. It was the tiniest thing that I’ve ever seen and it was four dollars and literally two bites, the other item that I ordered was the Smashed Jack and it was smaller than the dollar cheeseburger that you get at McDonald’s for a child and the sandwich was eight dollars. Jack-in-the-Box has gone downhill or food items and menu is much different than the California version Jack-in-the-Box. Granted I know things are more expensive right now, but this was literally half the amount of food that comes in a child’s meal and it was 13 dollars. Sadly, I won’t be returning To Jack in the box ever again and on top of everything else there was nobody else waiting for food. I was the only one in the drive-through and it took 25 minutes for my food to be ready and done and the two people working there were too busy laughing it up and...
Read moreI visited the South Ogden/Harrison Blvd. Location today. Food good ... Service, meh.
Today the drive-through was a little slow. I ordered a bacon double smashed Jack... WITHOUT BUNS (I'm gluten sensitive, and this is one of the few menu items I can eat without getting sick.) After several minutes (only 2 cars ahead of me) I got to the window, paid for my food, and a minute or two later, they handed me the bag.
I could smell the bread before I even looked in the bag. I looked inside, opened the burger container, and confirmed that, indeed, it was a burger WITH the bun. I told him that this was not what I ordered. He shrugged his shoulders and said 'that's what they gave me', without reaching for the bag, and glared at me.
Feeling a bit irritated, I put a bit more assertion in my voice, thrust the bag closer to the window, and said "I'm sorry, but I can't eat this!" He scowled at me, took the bag, turned, and disappeared. About a minute later he returned and handled me another bag. No "sorry for the inconvenience", no "have a nice day", nothing. I looked in the bag, verified that the order was correct, said "thanks" (still no response) and drive away.
On the up side, the burger was...
