Have never felt more taken advantage of from a restaurant. Since they've opened, I've eaten here many times, lunches, birthdays, and a ritual to come on Monday for their half price sushi menu. The sushi has always been great along with the service. Only thing I've had aside from that was a bento box and a poke bowl, both of which very good. Went in on Monday with my girlfriend as I have many a time for the half off sushi and lunch. I've recently opted out of the consumption of fish so instead of Sushi I got the Stir Fried Udon noodle bowl. It said it came with scallops and I asked for them to be excluded. It came very quickly before my girlfriends Sushi. Before it left the servers hand I noticed it had scallops. I told the waitress very politey and she apologized for it and said she didn't even know what scallops look like or otherwise she would have noticed the mistake. Maybe 5 minutes later I got the replacement along with the rest of our food. I thought it strange that for something "stir fried" they're wasn't a single bit of browning on any of the noodles or the calamari or even the vegetables. Poked around and tried a singular piece of all that was in the bowl. It was wet, soggy, the calamari chewy and could tell it was previously frozen from how tough. The noodles the kind out of a bag that are white and colorless, not the kind in every other Udon stir fry I've had and really didn't have any flavor. Very big let down for something that costs almost 18$ by itself. Needless to say I had less than 3-4 bites with chopsticks before embarrassingly asking the server to take it back. She asked what was wrong with it and was very attentive as I discussed it with her. I told her I didn't want it remade or anything and to just remove it from the bill. She came back a little later to inform me that the manager was only willing to take 10% off the price of the item. She was embarrassed and we were both shocked to hear that what I believed was standard etiquette at even fast food restaurants when not satisfied with the meal the last thing you'd be expected to do was pay for it. Especially considering it was virtually uneaten. So for the first time in my entire life I left a restaurant having to pay 90% price for a meal I didn't even eat. The server felt very bad and I joked with her and said that if it had been her restaurant she would have probably given it to me, she said she believed that I'd get refunded upon first taking it back. Their food has always been good and that's why I was so surprised at the quality of what I got, the first thing I had ever been disappointed in any way the many times I've eaten there. How can it be right to charge a customer almost full price for a meal they didn't even eat? Needless to say but I will say it anyway, I will never come back here celebrate a birthday, enjoy lunch, or share a...
Read moreAttention Owners and Managers: I only write reviews when my experience was epic or ghastly. We have been eating out more to try to support local restaurants since many are hurting. This was our first visit and if the owners knew how it was functioning I'm sure they would be horrified. In a nutshell it was calm chaos. Many irate customers and not a single employee seemed to care about what was going on. We were 1 of 2 parties waiting to be seated. We were given a 15- 20 minute wait time. The other party arrived after us and gave up after 40 minutes after they asked how much longer the wait would be only to be told they had somehow forgot they were waiting for a table. We periodically asked after hearing that and knowing 2 rooms were empty and were waiting to be cleaned. At one point during our wait a party across from the waiting area asked how long until they would receive their food. The waitress informed them they had a printer malfunction and their order had been lost. The disgruntled party asked for something fast to hold them over since they were starving. They were told they would receive an order of free edamame. A few minutes later they were presented with a plate of sushi to the excitement of the party. They were about to dig in but then they asked what the rolls were since it didn't look like what they had ordered. The waitress said oops and removed the plate from them! It was sadly comical watching their reaction to being handed food only to have it taken away. I can't imagine the waitress received a tip. It was so strange watching as employees weren't even aware of the various people waiting with no food and hangry faces. Why were tables not being periodically attended to? At one point, I took my child back to the bathroom and there was a group of employees gabbing at the back oblivious that there was such a need for them. Back to us, we were waiting for the booth room and after waiting another 20 minutes for 1 of the empty rooms to be "prepped" we gave up. We had waited in total an hour and 20 minutes and in that span of time only that 1 couple had entered to be seated. We opted for somewhere that understood customer service and how to function.. good old In and Out. Oh, and we never saw the table get their...
Read moreI've come here very frequently through the years, and celebrated my past 4 birthdays at sushi totto. I never expected that I would end up having an experience as poor as this evening, seeing that I have been impressed with their service over the years. A roll was made incorrectly, and when we had noticed the missing ingredients (that was a first) the waitress offered to get us replacement roll. We gladly excepted but to find out upon receiving the receipt we were then left to understand on our own that we were to be charged for that replacement roll. I am appalled by the quality in prep and service. A service offered for a fault made by your restaurant to then be positioned as an undisclosed charge. (We were not informed that it would cost us what so ever) this is absolutely disgusting business. I forgot it is my responsibility to dissect every roll served before eating them or I am to be charged for them. Because the missing ingredients was my negligence not yours correct? I'd truly love to know your management and owner's position on that. I am shocked by a complete lack of empathy and accountability from the staff. I would hope not, but perhaps some traditions end. Thankfully there are 2 other sushi restaurants within a mile radius that have never exhibited this poor of service. Once more I have always been a huge fan of sushi Totto. I really hope this was just a fluke or a...
