I liked the food I ordered. My fiance liked his that I brought home. My best friend was not impressed with her food, I will elaborate below.
I got the Shepherd's Pie which comes with the mashed potatoes and veggies inside the dish and a side of Texas toast and a side salad. All delicious. I still have some in the fridge for dinner tonight since the portions are huge!
The Shepherd's Pie was a little greasy, but sooo delicious and fresh tasting. The salad was crisp and everything was fresh.
I also got an ala carte hard shell shredded chicken taco. The hard shell seemed to be fresh made in house. Crisp, no sog, delicious. The topping were sparse, mainly just chicken in the shell. It wasn't shredded. But the chicken was cut up small enough, it was easy to eat. It came with 4 or 5 dices of tomato, basically no cheese, and lettuce. I had some jalapenos, olives, and dressing from my other dishes, so it worked out well.
Real quick, the chicken fried steak I brought home to my fiance, he said was superb. He got blue cheese dressing, which was some of the best he'd had.
Now, to my friends food. She got the supreme nachos, and the loaded chicken burrito.
The nachos were okay. She thought it was going to come with the flowy nacho cheese type sauce. It doesn't. It is meat, melted cheese, and toppings. She ate it. It was good. Just not what she expected.
The smothered burrito however... let me preface this by saying, I liked the filling inside. The smothered part... I dont even know what that was. It was supposed to be green sauce, I think? it seemed like it was cream of chicken with some chili verde mixed in, in my opinion. She couldn't eat it.
She service was mediocre. We were there for about an hour and a half. We got asked about 20 mins in if we needed drink refills, then not again. I had told the waitress at the beginning, when we were placing our order, that I'd need an order "To Go" towards the end of the meal. (Yes, I know that's vague, but when we are done eating and haven't touched our plates for 20 mins...)
I did have to get up and go to the front counter to place my to go order. The waitress had even cleaned a table off right near us and not come to check on us.
TL:DR:
Food was good, and bad. Service was wanting. I'll...
Read moreI had been looking forward to eating here after hearing multiple good things about the food. Me & my daughter went Sat morning around 1030. No one greeted us, which was fine, and there was a small sign on the wall saying to seat yourself & another sign saying to not sit at a dirty table. It’s nearly impossible to see where any free or clean booths are with the way it’s set up. Fortunately they didn’t seem too busy and we found a booth. Within a few mins the waitress for table next to us brought their check….we weren’t acknowledged so I thought maybe she’s not our waitress. About 5 mins into us waiting, a larger family of 5 walked past us to sit at the big booth on the back. Within a couple of mins another waitress walked by us, directly to their table to bring them menus and take their drink order. Once again, we were not acknowledged. By this point we had been waiting 10 mins. That same waitress comes back to them a couple mins later carrying all their drinks (which she ended up spilling one of their sodas 🤦🏻♀️). When she walked off to get something to clean her mess, the first waitress we saw, brings the table beside us their receipt, looks at me and my daughters table and walks off. At this point we decide to leave. Two different waitresses saw us multiple times in a 15 min time span & we were never acknowledged, brought menus and not even when we got up to walk out when both waitresses saw us leaving. I would’ve waited patently had we at least been acknowledged, but we saw multiple other tables getting menus and helped and only looks at our way instead of at least asking if we had been helped. Highly disappointed & the staff should definitely be trained better & maybe management should consider a more efficient way to ensure everyone is being seen when they come in…since it is a seat...
Read moreWent to Virg's for the first time this morning. Planned to find out how good they were at my standard favorite of biscuits and gravy, but seeing the big, beautiful, half-pound cheeseburger at a table across the aisle changed my mind. I love it when wait staff ask for a drink order right off, and that was done today.I asked for a big, tall glass of milk, my favorite. (My dream is that someday I'll find a place that serves milk in large, frosty Oktoberfest-sized beer steins). Anyway, when the burger came, it was accompanied by a generous serving of homemade, skin-on fries that were served in their own little fryer basket, a cool idea. One complaint about the fries, though. If you're going to make your own fries, you've got to learn to do them right. TWO cookings folks, not one. TWO. Got it? If not, they'll never be crispy, no matter how long you cook them. The fries today we're not bad, just not the best, but the frysauce that was served with them made up for it. Yum. The burger was big, and had a big melty slice of cheddar on it. The plate was garnished with an attractive arrangement of pickle slices, fresh red onion rings, and sliced tomatoes on a large leaf of Greenleaf lettuce. That made it easy to transfer the whole thing to the burger. The freshness of the veggies made the good burger even better. The burger was a touch dry for my taste, but not bad, and the fries and burger both needed seasoning. With tip, the total came to $12. 92. Not cheap, but certainly reasonable. Definitely a good experience, despite the atrocious, junior high level porthole paintings of ocean scenes on the wall. I will go...
