I’ve always loved this place. It’s been my go-to spot for a good meal, and my girls’ absolute favorite place to eat. The couple of years we spent here, we’ve never had a single problem, issue, or complaint — just great food, great memories, and a staff that made us feel like we were apart of the community. Unfortunately, since the change in ownership, as sweet as the new owners are, things haven’t been quite the same. Twice now I’ve had to cancel my order because it was taking too long to be ready, which was never a problem before. And now, with them closed until the 18th, we’ve lost the chance to enjoy one last meal there before our move — something we were really looking forward to. Gladys will always hold a special place in my heart, but I can’t help but feel a little sad that our last experiences here weren’t like the ones we’ve cherished for the time we were here.
In response to the reply below, I called in a breakfast order twice, 20 minutes before picking it up. When I got there I was told it would be about 20 minutes before it was ready. The second time the order wasn’t even put in. I’ve never been in a rush when I’ve gone there, and when doing a pick up order, I always give plenty of time before hand. No such...
Read moreIf you like good tasting food served fast and piping hot right off the grill with lots on the plate... Served up by smiling servers who... team together to insure all customers walking in the door are quickly greeted, given a full choice of which table to eat at and served quickly with drink orders that do not have a chance to go dry (coffee, sweet tea, cola or even just a water) as all the servers are working the room to keep the customers from having to ask. 😁 I know this writer should have take pictures of the food ordered, but I didn't as I was stuffing my mouth with my over light eggs, sausage & grits along side my large diameter order of 2 blueberry FILLED pancakes. Wife had a 3 egg wheat burrito she could not finish and our friends had the $3.99 breakfast which they tried to devour but also had to box to take home.
Good service (with smiles), good food AND great comfee seating where we all could talk to each other while we stuffed ourselves. Not like some franchise places where the noise level is too high.
Off the beaten track corner off Rt 70 & Rt 441 but well worth the stop. This writer from Florida's East Coast will be making a shop here when we return...
Read moreWe enjoyed our meal at Gladys’ restaurant. It’s a little awkward when you first walk in and there is no sign to seat yourself. We sat at the bar. I ordered the eggs with biscuit and gravy. My fiancé ordered the steak and eggs. Both were tasty and fresh. I noticed a plate of pancakes came out next to me. They looked phenomenal. I wish they would serve fresh half & half or cream with their coffee. With all the dairy farms around this doesn’t seem like an unreasonable ask. In addition the staff seemed preoccupied with their phones and shopping for fishing gear. It made me wonder what else they were ignoring aside from the dirty dishes on tables. I love the prices of this place! Ans the food came out quickly and tasty. I know it’s hard to find good staff these days but it would go along way to remind the staff to stay off phones right next to people. I’m addition our bill had an illegible total at the bottom so we had to ask for a receipt in order to...
