Second time visiting this ramen bar, overall it was a great experience. The most remarkable thing in my opinion, probably would be the broth, it’s rich and full of flavor, you could tell that there was a lot of work and preparation put towards it. However the toppings need some work. You would expect the egg for ramen to be more semi-cooked with a slightly runny yolk, instead of a whole hard boiled egg that’s a bit lack of soy flavor. And be aware that most of their ramen does not/barely come with toppings, so you will have to order them separately. We did not know this our first visit, so we had a chance to order a few extra toppings this time, most of them would be what you usually see at every ramen bar, except the bamboo shoot (menma) was not what I expected. It’s a whole big strip that is pretty plain and chewy, unlike the menma that I was looking forward to.
Another thing that should be improved, is their timing with the kids meal. We ordered a regular kids meal that comes with ramen, fried chicken, french fries and ice cream, but we were a bit surprised when the waitress brought out only one plain ramen bowl at the beginning without letting us know that they would bring the rest of the meal out one by one, but we figured that was the case so we waited patiently and the rest did eventually come out. Yet it would be nice if they could ask us whether we want the whole meal to come out at once or the other way, because after our kid finished the ramen, she lost her appetite for the next dish. I agree that the ice cream should come out last though, considering it’s a dessert.
However, compared to other ramen bars that we have been to, Jinya’s menu offers a much bigger variety of items, with a slightly higher price. Staff is friendly and service is decent, great atmosphere but a bit loud with the music and greetings. But overall definitely worth a try and would...
Read moreMy wife and I had the good fortune to attend the pre-opening of Jinya Ramen Bar. It was a great experienced! I have to give the Jinya owners a big thumbs up on training. We were greeted at the door by a very professional hosting staff. We were seated by an older gentleman I though must have been the owner, but he assured me that he was "Just Jim" the host and he greatly appreciated the fact that Jinya hired the elderly. We had a good laugh since my wife and I are older ourselves.
Our waiter was a young man named Ruben. My wife found the print on the menu to be very small and hard to read but Ruben walked her through all of the ingredients of at least five different ramen bowls and helped her narrow it down to the chef's special. I had the shrimp ramen. They were both delightfully delicious. We also had the spicy shrimp tempura and pork gyoza which were great as well. All the food was served piping hot and came out quickly from the kitchen. Great food and beautifully presented from what I suspect is a kitchen full of brand new cooks.
On our way out, I stopped to tell "Just Jim" about the menu being hard to read for older people. He told me, Jinya changes their special every 90 days so he suspected that they would be reprinting the menu and that he would let the powers-that-be know, but until then he'd bring a magnifying glass up and hide it at the hostess station and to just let him know the next time we came in and he'd get it for us to use.
Jinya Ramen Bar has great food and well trained staff that is both personable and genuine. Here's to a job well done Jinya management! We wish you the best of...
Read moreFirst time here and definitely won't be the last. My other half and I went an hour after they opened and it wasn't busy so we were seated and got our drinks and food right away. Since it was our first time we did get a lot of food, but it was totally worth it. Our server, Steve, was amazing! He recommended the jinya bun and the pork gyoza, and it did not disappoint! The bun was fluffy and warm and it was packed with filling. I added a little bit of the seasoning sauce and it just completed the bun. The pork gyoza was cooked well and very ginger-forward but I love ginger so it was a 10 out of 10 for me . I got one of their combos (Tokyo curry rice and a seaweed salad) Curry and rice arrived hot. Rice was fluffy and curry tasted exactly like the ones in Japan. Seaweed salad was seasoned well, not too heavy on sesame oil, and the greens were nice and crispy. I also got the tonkotsu spicy ramen in spicy(options were mild, spicy and hot) wasn't as spicy as I was hoping but it wasn't a problem because they had a hot sauce/paste available. Ramen came out hot as well. Noodles were thick, cooked well and very filling. Broth was very flavorful and not too heavy on the stomach. The only thing I would change from the ramen was the chashu. Taste and tenderness was good but it was sliced a little thick than what I'm used to (personal preference) other than that everything was fantastic. First ramen place we've gone to that tastes the closest to food from back home. Overall, I highly recommend this location. We'll...
