This review is for me and a friend for GEL-X. We’ve heard good things and decided to book. The good parts are, we got in and out early. 1) my experience -I do gel-x and am very tedious with my work but wanted to treat myself this time. I got a simple almond soft white with nail art bows on some nails for $75. The first red flag was the no gloves with huge eczema patches on the lady’s hands and arms. The second red flag should’ve been that it took only an hour to do the nails. The third red flag was using regular thin gel and not a rubber base or thicker consistency to support the nails. I liked them when I got out, until I noticed all the flaws. -When I came home to look closer at the nails, I saw that the nails looked grown out, the tips were not covering side wall to side wall, the polish work was STREAKY, the bow nail art was not clean, there was gel under my natural nails, some itchy spots, and more. -when it comes to the wear test, the gems on my bows came off within 24hours which was VERY disappointing. My thumbs also popped off within 2/3 days. It will be a week tomorrow since I’ve gotten them done and I was able to easily pop all of them off today. When I took them off, the gel underneath was extremely thick and I could basically peel it off. I also saw air bubbles, lifting, and felt moisture resulting from poor work. This is super different from the gelx I do at home and have had done. Its very disappointing for $75. 2) my friends experience - She’s attended cosmetology school. She got short pink almonds with snowflake nail art. The nail art was so bad she requested to just do pink with a glitter top. She also did not like the glitter because it felt chunky and some nails had more glitter than others. The next day she ended up filing some glitter off. -To her surprise, one of her nails also POPPED OFF within 12 hours of getting them done. She feels as if the nails were only attached in a small area which is why they popped off so easily. She went in to remove them the next day and got a 1/3 refund of her money. Summary is we will not be going back although it has a good reputation and in a nice area. Do not come for GELX here. I’m not sure how others have a good experience here.

My visit to this salon was interesting. I booked my appointment with a very sweet woman who was labeled on the website as “amazing at nail art” I showed her a picture of what I wanted, and after about 5 ish minutes of her looking at it she said she could do it. I tried to explain that I wanted it to be that design, but on my natural nail with gel polish. It could have been that there were literally 3 people surrounding us watching her work, but there was a miscommunication and she started clipping my nails off. I’m a pretty timid person, so I just let her work. After an hour of being crowded, having to leave my phone with the technician so she could refer back to the inspo picture, and a severe lack of communication I ended up with a set that was absolutely nothing like the picture. I had asked her multiple times if she could do it and she kept reassuring me that she could. What was supposed to be a $50 manicure turned into a $90 T.A.P builder gel set. Unfortunately I don’t have a picture of them, because not even 2 days later they started to lift. Summary: do not go here if you want a professional set done or anything more than a basic solid color manicure. If you aren’t confident in your ability to deliver what the customer is asking for, just simply tell them it isn’t possible. I would have gone to a tech that could instead of wasting my money. Came for the first time for a pedicure with my daughter who is almost 4 years old on the day prior to mother's day. I was going to trader joes and this place looked really nice. The kids pedicure is about 70% of the cost of the adult pedicure but the tech (had animal face on her mask) spent less than half the time with my daughter, she started about 10-15 min after my classic pedicure and ended 10-15 min before mine ended. I wasnt watching every step but I'm pretty sure she only put the base coat, 1 layer of nail polish and the a top coat on my daughter's nails. My daughter's nails looked perfect when we showed my husband about 2 hours later, but by 5 hours after the pedicure the big nail was chipped. A week later, most of the nails have chips, meanwhile mine look perfect, which my experience is that pedicures tend to look good until they grow out. If I was charged $10 for my daughters pedicure it would be one thing, but $25 is a little ridiculous considering there is almost no massage or other treatments, and minimal nail polish. My pedicure looks good, but I'm trying to find a place that I can get a pedicure with my daughter, who absolutely loves seeing her nails painted. Very disappointed.

I went to Gloss on a whim, needing my acrylics soaked off, and looked at their reviews and they seemed promising. I got there, sat down, and she started the process and everything seemed fine. She started to file my nails on my right hard and it was too round for my liking, so before she started to file my left hand, I asked to not file them. She said she was going to make it even, I asked again to not file them, and I guess that’s where it started.

There was a soft nail layer from MY nail tech that they place under the acrylic. The woman at Gloss didn’t notice it at first and used the drill to take the soft layer off my right hand. I assumed she did the same for my left. She asked me to wash my hands and when I turned around she wasn’t at her station, so I walked up to the front where she was waiting for me to pay. I paid, I tipped, I left and about a mile down the road I noticed that soft layer on every single nail on my left hand, saw blue paint from the previous manicure, my nails were filed so unevenly on my right hand, and my middle finger nail on my right hand was filed into the nail leaving a jagged edge.

I was upset enough to go back. Well, somehow I was made even more upset when I got there.

I explained how I came in to get my nails soaked off and there was still that soft layer on my nails. They had the tech that worked on my nails come back and take off that soft layer and SHE PEELED THE SOFT LAYER OFF MY NAIL. The whole point of going to get them soaked off was to avoid as much damage to my nails as possible, which was not avoided unfortunately.

I asked if she could use the drill and she told me she “needed the file but I didn’t want them filed.” She then grabbed the drill and file, which at this point seemed pointless because she had already peeled off the soft layer and caused some damage. She then proceeded to use the drill to smooth it out, and disregarded my previous request, and filed my nails.

Though it was a small job, and small request to not file my nails, I was rushed, left with what I asked to be taken off, and was not listened to. Had this gone another way, I could see myself being a loyal customer/client here, but unfortunately, I do not believe I’ll...

BEWARE

I live in Nichols Hills and kept being asked why I went to a further salon so finally, I tried Gloss. My technician said her name was Sabrina but I'm sure that was a lie. She did a terrible terrible job. I asked for the basic pedicure because there was no differentiation of massage or basics between the classic and the others other than the scent/products and paraffin-- which I am avoiding because strong smells make me nauseous in pregnancy. She said that because I got the basic, I got minimal massage and minimal pumice stone. Which it doesn't say that on the menu! I also just wanted a manicure and buffing of my nails. She seemed annoyed that I wasn't getting much. Then, she wasn't even looking at my feet or hands while she was doing them. It was crazy! I noticed other people that were there before me were still getting their classic (same as mine) pedicures when she was completely done with me. I complained and she just huffed at me. I told her I was complaining to the front desk and she followed me up there and wouldn't allow interaction. So I called after I left and complained. They told me they would call the owner and get approval for a gift card. They never called back. I called again and they said they were too busy. The front desk also told me COVID was running through their salon and even the owner has it! (Why didn't they shut down?!). Then, they have me the owners number and said "call Vinny yourself". I called him and he dismissed me. Check out this "manicure" and shelac pedicure that I paid $85 dollars for! Never ever...
