Run, don't walk - you absolutely NEED to check out this new hidden gem in Old Bridge. The interior of the restaurant is beautifully done, which creates a wonderful atmosphere/aesthetic. The menu is extensive, with offerings ranging from cafe items (e.g. a coffee bar) to meals for any time of the day. An added plus is that all items on the menu are halal, and there are plenty of offerings for those with dietary restrictions. My family went to EVOO for dinner and ordered the fried calamari as an appetizer and an assortment of grill items + a panini, all of which was spectacular! The absolute star of the show was the dessert: Omm-Ali, an Egyptian bread pudding. This dessert is truly heaven in dessert form and a must-try item for anyone who visits. Made fresh by the owner when ordered, Omm-Ali is a dessert unlike any you have had before. Warm. Scrumptious. Delectable. It is all my family has been thinking about since we left the restaurant. An added thank you to the owner of the restaurant who checked in about our dining experience. She is extremely kind, and we wish her the best of luck in the success of EVOO. Thanks again, and we will...
Read moreI had high hopes for this restaurant, however I was a little disappointed. Let's start with the positive....great location, great vibe inside, warm and friendly owner Vana. However, I think the restaurant is having an identity crisis. Do you want to be known for great Mediterranean cuisine or do you want to accommodate every single person walking by the restaurant? I prefer having a great Mediterranean cuisine as the name indicates! Therefore get rid of the French fries and mozzarella sticks (and anything else that can be made at a fast food place) and master the flavors and spices of Mediterranean dishes. We had chicken kebab which was just plain old grilled chicken which had absolutely no spice or flavor....just grilled chicken (which was healthy and good but no Mediterranean flare!). We also had the chicken shwarma which had the smallest amount of spice added. Again just chicken with barely any Mediterranean spice. The best dish we had was the baklava. I hope this review was helpful to improve the menu and flavor profiles. I would definitely try this restaurant again in the future to see how it...
Read moreFirst off how do you sell a Greek salad for $14 with 3 pieces of cucumber and a quarter of a tomato chopped?COGS (cost of goods sold ) $3 at best here. So they are making 400% profit on this salad. I threw it in the garbage I don't even think the feta was real I think it was goat cheese I took a picture it is absolutely awful to do that to people. Half of the romaine lettuce was yellow not green. I did like the side of the grilled chicken I ordered for extra $ , that was done nicely. The hummus was super oily- totally unnecessary. The casual venue looks pretty new and clean which is nice. You don't even have a grill to warm your pita ,rather using a convection microwave oven that's pretty lame. I should have gone to Evans I was in the area. Attaching the picture of the salad pathetic. I'm food writer and this was a disappointing experience. The girls at the front were nice but the absent owner should really get more involved in this venue. Best for...
