Ben & Jerry’s — Restaurant in Old Saybrook

Never write reviews but decided this was review writing worthy. I would come in here often since coming to our area. Often I see different managers and new employees or employees being "trained" one week, gone the next. I actually stopped coming for awhile at one point due to bad management but when they seemed to finally get a decent manager at the beginning of the year, I had started coming more frequently. She seemed to be a great addition and things were getting better... always had menu items in stock, very clean, organized, better trained employees for the most part and more lively. Unfortunately, that only lasted a couple of months, not sure what happened but since she has left, I've had too many unpleasant experiences with the "new manager" Now its full of untrained, inexperienced, miserable manager and crew, its truly a mess. Its not a happy fun experience it once had been and after a recent incident with the "manager", I will no longer be coming back or bringing my family and friends here as I so often did. Shame on management, employee turnover is too constant and its sad when a good crew leaves and is replaced with miserable, untrained, arrogant, careless employees led by an even worse manager. Some advice for this place, dont fix something that doesnt need fixing and treat good employees better because clearly they are being let go or leaving on their own, causing good customers to go with them. Stop corrupting reviews. Didn't think much about it until mine kept disappearing and an actual manager in store told confirmed it for me. Disappointed in the ethics carried out by this franchise using the Ben and Jerry's name. I really wanted to do this business justice in the name sake hence why I took on this specific project. After weeks of my personal investigation of this shop and company, especially with middle management and treatment of store employees, and information gathered by official interviews with employees and unofficial conversations with some as well, I'm disappointed and honestly, sad. Let me start off by saying the staff is always great, I gave 2 stars because most of the time I go into the place they don’t have basic things, I have been in a few times and ordered a Sunday, they had no whipped cream or hot fudge, not the end of the world but you think that ice cream place would have there’s things. Like I said this is not a one time thing, this has happened a bunch. The staff told me that they didn’t have a manager so their ordering for products has been off.
