I went to buy some Easter gifts and a few other things and at check out I was met by a young man with a snotty look on his face. I greeted him and received no greeting back. I started taking things out of the cart and it started haphazardly grabbing things and scanning them. I was trying to keep up so that nothing got scanned twice. I had two pairs of black socks and I picked up by mistake the one he hadn't scanned. He immediately yelled at me and accused me of trying to steal. I was flabbergasted. I told him I simply grabbed the wrong pair and was not trying to steal to which he replied that there were cameras on me. I said great then it shows I wasn't trying to steal and who tries to steal at the register nevermind an eight dollar pair of socks? He continued to threaten me till he was done. I swiped my card to pay but it is an old card and the magnetic stripe sometimes requires 2 or 3 swipes. When it didn't go through I told him I needed to swipe it again because it doesn't always work the first time and he replied well maybe you should use a card that works and actually has money on it. I had enough. I put the stuff back on the counter and said I don't need this harassment. I left and went to Kohls where I found better stuff, better prices, and a friendly cashier who said no problem and manually entered my card. I won't ever go back. I work to hard for my money to spend it a place that treats...
Read moreI had the displeasure of working with a grown woman who goes by the name of “Candy” the other day. Her name is besides the point but I just want it noted as it seemingly matched her maturity level. The store in general has such a different vibe than any other Marshalls/TJMaxx/HomeGoods and I believe it has to do with the ladies on staff there. They just seem miserable and credit card selling obsessive. I get second hand embarrassment at their sales pitch as nobody truly needs a store card with 30% interest rates to forget about in their purse after only securing it for the discount at purchase. Take a 10 minute walk around the place (AVOID THE BATHROOM) and you’ll see what I mean even the parking lot is a wreck. Store seems very mismanaged and it’s truly a shame because I typically enjoy my experience at a Marshall’s, it’s cheaper than my...
Read moreOne of the best suburban Marshall's that I have shopping in - which I do regularly at this location. Very well merchandised, not cluttered and wonderful associates work at this location. Always very helpful and so friendly. Always buy my Adidas here because the shoe department is so accessible and I can find my size immediately if available in the style. Skinlab products generally also available. Men's clothing is a little bit for miss...a little too casual but because Old Saybrook is a resort town with beaches nearby. Inventory constantly charges - new items arrive...
