Cafe De Siam — Restaurant in Oldsmar

I'm pretty shocked by my experience here. Considering how great the online reviews were, I was expecting some yummy Thai food. My wife and I placed a carry out order for two panang curries, mine with chicken, hers with veg. First of all, upon coming home and unpacking the food, both curries were in different styles of to-go containers, which was just sort of weird. Both dishes looked very underwhelming and tasted even worse. Panang curry is supposed to be a super flavorful and well balanced dish, but all I could taste was friggin salt and chicken. No richness from the coconut milk, no fresh basil, no sweetness or acidity, just straight up garbage. Hers was similar but with super overcooked mushy vegetables. After adding my own seasoning it was just bearable enough to eat. Later that night my wife and I couldn't sleep cause we had horrible stomach aches, and then diarrhea the next day. Came in the day after to get my money back and the owner starts arguing with me that they would never put out food like that. I ended up getting my refund because I wasn't alright with paying money to get food...

A small gem found while taking our first walk from our new apartment. We came across this while walking to Cody's and I am a huge Thai food fanatic, especially with Phad(Pad) Thai. It is my "go-to" meal to compare Thai restaurants. My wife and I were greeted very kindly, took our seat and ordered the Phad Thai, Spring rolls, and the steamed vegetables. It was all delicious. The Phad Thai has a smaller portion(thank goodness since many places drop a couple pounds of noodles on your plate). There was no up-charge for Shrimp and chicken. The Phad Thai had a smokey flavor which I have come to desire more and more to get away from the sweet side. It was really good! The Spring rolls came with their own homemade sauce, somewhat like a sweet chili, but with little heat. The vegetables came in a light brown sauce, giving it a bit of the smokey flavor also. We were really impressed for our first dine-out adventure and having it so close is great!! I highly recommend trying them out if you are...

Great Food. Super Nice Staff. Was in Westchase visiting clients looking for a good Thai food restaurant (I live in Pinellas) and found this place on Google. 1st good sign, everyone else was a regular and half of them were sitting by themselves (one told me she drives from her job on Sligh and Armenia every Monday which is prob a 30 min drive). They have a lunch special menu which includes two spring rolls for $7.95. The food was very tasty and flavorful. For $2 more you can order off the regular menu if you want more food. And whatever some other reviewer mentioned about the water being good was not kidding. Although I asked for lemon the proprietor told me I would not need it and she was right! She gave me a takeout menu for my client and nothing on it was over $14.95. Definitely...
