Judging by the girl who served me, I’d say the business is likely run by folks from South India or maybe even Sri Lanka — but that’s beside the point.
Let’s talk food:
The white sauce – There’s way too much of it. It doesn’t just make the dish soggy — it actually kills the flavor. The sauce itself tastes like watered-down yogurt, completely bland. It doesn’t have the signature flavor you’d expect from a proper white garlic or tahini-based Middle Eastern sauce. They really need to work on this — more flavor, more aroma, something with actual character. Right now it just dilutes everything. The hot sauce? Decent. Tastes like typical Sriracha — nothing special, not really that spicy.
The rice – Cooked beautifully. Fluffy, fragrant, and filled with cardamom pods — a nice touch. You can tell they’re using quality, possibly organic ingredients here.
The lamb – They use real lamb, not the processed meat you’d normally find in NYC-style halal carts. That alone shifts the entire experience. Instead of that greasy, flavorful street-style feel, this leans more toward a halal grocery plate or sit-down diner vibe. It’s not a bad thing, just not what you expect when you hear “NYC halal.” Also, the lamb comes with visible fat. That’s gonna be a hard pass for a lot of people — especially Americans who aren’t used to eating lamb with fat. Trimming it down could help.
Prices – Fair. Not dirt cheap, but definitely on the affordable side. Considering the quality of the ingredients — organic-style rice, real meat — I’d even say the prices are slightly low. That said, the overpowering white sauce drags down the whole meal. If they fix that, they could probably justify a small price bump — but until then, it kind of wastes the good ingredients.
Atmosphere? Clean, bright, with proper seating inside. But the vibe? Eh… I’d give it a generous 2 out of 5. Functional, but...
Read moreMy family ordered from here Superbowl Sunday evening. It was not busy when we went. The food was really good and the service was as well. Unfortunately I had to give it 2 stars though due to pricing and incorrect information. When you go in there is a menu with prices displayed. There is also details about what platters contain. You do not get what is listed for the price shown. I got regular platters that say $11.99 however I was charged $12.09 + $2.20 for beef, $1.10 for chicken, and $.98 for toppings for a total of $16.37. No meat is included in base price. My kids had Gyros that I was charged $10.86 for after meet and toppings charge even though they were listed as $7.99. I was not told there were extra charges nor is there a display anywhere stating. I thought the total seemed high but did not realize until I got home all the extra charges. Until they have accurate pricing and accurate descriptions I won't be back. Which I hate because the food is good and being open 24/7 is a plus. However having almost $20 worth of extra...
Read moreI went to halal boys for a third visit after the first two were so awesome!!!!! I was telling everyone I knew about it, especially my co workers. Then last night (9/3/25), I decided to go back and get some for my lunch the next day. I simply asked the worker to put my lettuce tomatoes etc., the toppings to the side. She said she couldn’t. I didn’t ask for extras just the regular amount for that bowl so I could warm it up the next day. The manager said no because people want more.first of all it was sooooo disrespectful when I asked to see the manager and he refused to speak with me and second if it was extra I have money to pay. In olive branch businesses are very nice and accommodating or will at least speak to you because I’ve lived here 22years and this is my first google review. Even though the food was excellent I will not patronize someone with utter disrespect!!!! He acted as if I just wanted something for free, which was really an insult to...
