I love coming back here on those wet rainy winterish days. The atmosphere of being in an old fire- police- station decorated somewhere out of upper Michigan or Alaska brings cozy to a cool day. The staff are all friendly while escorting us to our booth. And, just above a walnut lights the way. There are so many cool decorations, but I didn't want to jump in front of staff and customers just to snap a quick picture. Moosehead, anyway, is just a place to visit for the atmosphere. Regarding food Sometimes, I'm adventurous and up for something new. And, other times, I dont want anything but my favorite staple. With Moosehead, it's the chicken Philly staple. Even though the menu changed and just the Steak Philly is listed ...The waitress was very accommodating. And, she added my requested side of honey mustard that completes that certain craving I had at the entrance. Anyway, my review is simple....Great sub! Great fries! I've heard from others that the steak philly is good. However, because I'm so hooked on the chicken Philly, I got my usual.. But, maybe on my next visit? My husband switched things up with a ruebin sandwich and fries. His smile is all I needed to see.. delicious! Overall, we've been coming since they opened their doors, which has been years. We will come back. Really looking forward to warmer weather perhaps next update will be lunch on the balcony a beautiful view over looking rocky river....gorgeous view! Definitely, a restaurant worth trying.

We have been wanting to try more local restaurants in the area so in our search for new restaurants, we discovered Moosehead Hoof & ladder. From the get go, was very impressed. The decor/atmosphere was very inviting and welcoming. Menu has a very good overall selection of dishes that made it difficult to narrow down our choices. We ultimately started with the wild buffalo rolls with the mild buffalo sauce as an appetizer. Easily some of the best deep fried rolls we have had at a restaurant. Chicken had an excellent flavor and the outer shell was very well prepared and deep fried. The buffalo sauce was very good (it also served as a great French fry sauce later in the meal) For my entree, I ordered the mooseberry salad with grilled chicken and cranberry vinaigrette. The strawberries, oranges, candied pecans and chicken complemented the salad extremely well. The sweet cranberry vinaigrette was the perfect pairing for me on the salad. It was a generous portion of mixed greens, fruit, and chicken. Will absolutely return and have several folks that we will want to introduce to this restaurant now as well. We look forward to visiting again in the future.

The restaurant is housed in a former firehouse. The interior is architecturally interesting and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. I was seated quickly on the side of the restaurant that was once city offices. The arched ceiling and curved beams gave a really unique appeal to the room. My waitress was quick, pleasant, and efficient. She provided some of the best service that I have experienced recently. I started my meal with the onion ring appetizer, served with ketchup and horse radish sauce for dipping. They were fresh and hot. The horse radish sauce was really flavorful. I chose the grilled reuben for my entrée with fries as the side. The corned beef was thinly sliced, tender, and full of flavor. The sandwich was the definition of a reuben. The fries were hot, fresh, and had just the right amount of seasoning. I ended my meal with their fried ice cream. It was a delectable treat to say the least. The cinnamon sugar tortilla strips were just the right level of crunchy and the coating on the ice cream was delicious. I can say that this was one of my most delightful restaurant experience in quite some time.

My husband along with another couple visited this past Friday hoping to find some good Lenten seafood options. Our servers name was Denise. When my girlfriend and I asked her how the salmon burger was, her response was "I don't know, I don't eat fish". We then had to ask her if she has heard customers opinions about it to which she replied that they all say its good. Based on that, both her and I each ordered the salmon burger. My husband ordered the perch dinner and her husband ordered the reuben sandwich. Dinner was served in a timely manner. However, I immediately got a very fishy odor from my salmon burger. I proceded to take a bite and it was extremely unpalatable! I was completely turned off and could not eat this burger. My girlfriend who ordered the same thing agreed that it was not good though she thought she was going to be able to "power through it“ as she put it. Not even half way through, she couldn't finish it. Now I'd like to also point out that 3 of us had ordered beers with dinner and my girlfriend a glass of wine and when Denise came back to the table to check on us, my girlfriend told her "I don't like this, I can't eat it and Denise just said ok and cleared our plates. I also informed her that I did not like mine and since I only took one bite that I would like it taken off of my bill. She seemed very annoyed and said only her manager can do that. I replied "ok' I then watched the manager come out of the kitchen with Denise and go over to the order station and refund my meal. She then walked back into the kitchen. I was completely shocked that she never came over to our table to talk to me or apologize! When Denise came back to our table she actually said "you're lucky, she never refunds anyone's meals". Are you kidding me!!! I will add that my husband and my friend did enjoy the perch dinner and the reuben sandwich. None of us were offered another beverage. Needless to say, none of us will be returning to this...

We were at this restaurant once in the summer. We sat outside and looked over the landscape. This time it was December 13th, 2024. We opted to sit inside, as it was cold outside and the outside area was closed.🙂 The waitress was pleasant, knowledgeable, and had a healthy sense of humor. The atmosphere was warm, cozy, and jolly! We had two vegetarians and two omnivores in our group. The choice of dishes was numerous and great for us because everyone got something they thoroughly enjoyed. We started with onion rings for our appetizer. I had the scrumptious walleye sandwich with fries. I did not eat the roll it came on because it was already breaded and I did not need to fill up on bread. I was after the fish and it was DE-licous! It was the best walleye I have had and walleye is one of my favorites. The fries were perfect for me. I don't understand why more restaurants within a hundred miles of the lake don't serve walleye and lake perch because they are caught in Lake Erie. It should be a favorite at most restaurants in this area. The other omnivore, a true foodie who travels extensively, had flown in from California early that morning. We picked him up from a hotel near the Cleveland airport. He had a sumptuous large burger and homemade potato chips. He was very well pleased. One of our vegetarians had yummy potato pierogies covered with sautéed onions. There was sour cream on the side and a side of cooked apples. She was so taken with her food that we hardly heard a word from her during the meal. The other vegetarian had a delicious beanburger and homemade potato chips. We were all very satisfied with the location, atmosphere, food, and all it had to offer. Even the restrooms were clean and cheery. We highly recommend anyone looking for a good time with family or friends to meet at the Moosehead...

Not sure what happened to this place over the past few years. But it was one of our mom's favorite places. She passed away and we wanted to go as a memory kinda thing. She worked close by she would frequent this place for lunch. She also got us hooked on the Reuben on potato pancakes. Which they no longer serve/make potato pancakes. 1st disappoint. 2nd disappointment was a mixed drink I ordered that was the most worst tasting thing I've ever put in my mouth and when I asked for something different the waitress basically tried to tell me I was stuck with it by saying "SORRY" While shrugging her shoulders. I kept insisting that it was NOT GOOD TASTING AT ALL. She said she could send the manager over. Manager came to only look (nothing said ) probably seen that the drink WAS STILL FULL. Afterward the waitress came back to offer me a different choice. The food was extremely expensive and definitely NOT worth the cost. Smaller portions than what it should be or compared to other restaurants. We waited about an hour total for the bill and when we gave her the credit card to get it back. Wasn't asked if we wanted dessert or anything because it was coming up on closing time so the entire staff was more concerned about cleaning and closing up than the customers they were holding hostage due to the fact of being too busy trying to close instead of getting customers paid and out. They also had customers crammed in the small area of restaurant (probably not to dirty up the larger part) these days tables are usually staggered due to distance recommendations. Workers were NOT friendly like, in many ways. We came here from a half hour from where we live as a "In memory of our mom" kinda thing and was extremely disappointed. We all said when we left we would NOT...
