So glad Black Bear Diner in Olympia is back! Even though they’re brand new, everything already feels like it’s running smoothly. The servers were warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly, which made the whole visit feel welcoming from the moment I walked in. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting — the kind of place you feel comfortable settling into for a meal.

The food came out hot, fresh, and made exactly right. For breakfast I ordered the Hono omlette, stuffed with meat and veggies and served with hot country potatoes on the side. Couldn't forget to substitute a biscuit smothered with country gravy for my bread.

I was so impressed with breakfast, I had to come back for dinner. I ordered the sourdough cheeseburger, and it was delicious — perfectly cooked, great flavor, and the grilled sourdough bread for the bun really set it apart. I ate it so quick, I forgot to get a picture. You can tell they’re putting care into both the service and the food.

For just opening, the staff handled everything with ease and made the experience enjoyable. Kindness and patience goes a long way too - we all remember our first day on the job. Definitely looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu. A great addition...

Went on 9/16/25 @ 12pm food would of been good had server known what she was doing . She was so confused on orders .. by the time she got it right food was cold. Ask to get manager. The female manager was so rude and disrespectful too us . she didn't offer to make things right. all's she did was saying rude comment.. then gave us a desert to make up for all the cold food an rude hospitality.. My sister told her she couldn't have bear claw she is diabetic. Manager comment. I'm just not going to make you happy. How rude to talk to a elder like that with medical condition. We where patient an an understood they just opened. But still not except able as a manager to speak to a customer that way. An when we where kind an understanding with just opening.. Sorry manager had no customer service skills what do ever. Very unprofessional. We used to go to the brown bear when it was on the west side of Olympia. Was excited that they opened a new one. We will not be going back due to management and customer...

Came here with my family. I'll start out with the good, the bad and the ugly.

The good: Orange juice is amazing. Freshly squeezed. The bear claws (blackberry and almond) were extremely tasty.

The bad: Took 30min before we were able to get our order in. This restaurant just opened recently and was busy, so understandable.

The ugly: Our food came out cold. My eggs were cold not even like warm. My red potatoes also came out cold. Again these were not warm, they were cold. My country fried steak was warm, but not hot, the gravy was the hottest part of the meal.

My father's emmeal was similar where his potatoes were cold.

My mother's food was the pancakes and she enjoyed it. She didn't complain

Portions are large in size. Easily worth the cost but the cold food wasn't worth the cost. I'll give this another shot in a month or two, but right now extremely disappointed in our breakfast.

We were also charged for fruit cup that we never received. An unfortunate...

I stopped in during the soft opening of the new Black Bear Diner in Olympia and was blown away! Even with the place absolutely packed, the service was attentive, friendly, and on point. The food came out fresh, hot, and full of flavor. You can tell they really care about quality. Everything tasted homemade and comforting, the kind of food that makes you want to come back again and again. It’s not easy to pull off such great service and food when the restaurant is this busy, but the team handled it flawlessly. Olympia definitely needed a spot like this, and I can already tell this Black Bear Diner is going to be a favorite. Can’t wait to come back once they’re fully open!
