Huicholitos — Restaurant in Olympia

I would give five stars for every category but it is in a gas station, that’s only to say: GIVE THESE PEOPLE THEIR OWN RESTAURANT!! This is seriously some of the BEST food in Olympia by FAR and I will stand by those words. I don’t give that high of praise to most establishments, and I have gotten sick of a lot of our local restaurants (or they’ve closed) but Huicholitos is Olympia’s crown gem as far as I’m concerned. The flavors are always on point, so many options and there’s always specials and new things to try. I am a creature of habit and usually get the Pollo A La Crema and it is TO DIE FOR. Lots of veggies which I love because I’m always trying to eat more vegetables. My partner always gets the quesabirria. It’s also a lot of food which is great for the price, as I’m always trying to take leftovers to work. We LOVE Huicholitos, if I was rich I would buy them a brick and mortar restaurant to operate out of. Huicholitos was a surprise gem and we found the food absolutely delicious. As former SF residents, we've experienced amazing food in the Bay Area and Huicholitos definitely stands with all our former favorites. Staff were very welcoming and we were served generous portions. The aguachiles were superb and very nicely presented. The carnitas was redolent with a light fragrance of just smoked pork, served with fresh tortillas, rice and beans. Huicholitos is housed in a mini strip mall within a convenience store so it is somewhat busy. We will definitely come again and may choose to takeout versus eat in. Serve me a juicy fried taco thing with a side of steaming hot chili infused broth — please! Delicious meats cheeses salsas, fish and shrimp tacos, house made horchata, soups. We went on a cold winter night and found warmth … yes in the hot food but also in the greetings and conversation we enjoyed with the family that owns and runs this humble cheerful heartful little spot. Long-time cooks at another restaurant, they finally went for it and opened their on place and you can feel their joy!
