IHOP — Restaurant in Olympia

We arrived sometime around 1030_12/21/24; of course, it happened to have to be the last Saturday before Christmas, so everyone and their fifth cousin was out. We had shopping to finish and decided to go to this IHOP in olympia. We were actually quite promptly seated_which was a bit of a shock considering the place seemed actually sorta crowded. Unfortunately, we got seated at the one table that actually probably shouldn't even be there because it's right in the way from everyone going around to the edge tables. My wife took the chair and was multiple times litterally brushed by by people going by or waiters/waitresses going back and forth to the diners. And my chair was within inches of at least one other if not teo aposong tabled chairs with people sitting in them trying g to enjoy there meals. So we instantly felt quite cramped in the area with people so close to us. When we were seated, we were handed our menues and then left for about I'd say AT LEAST a good 10 minutes if not longer. USUALLY when you go to one of these diners they hand you your menue and offer you at least SOME TYPE of refreshment or tell you of any daily specials or ask if you wanna begin with any appetizers, etc. NOPE!. So when our waitress finally came back we had the opportunity to finally order our meals PLUS finally get drinks (we got just waters) I was comsidering ordering one of there colorful type drinks but because it took so long for her to return to take our order, I lost motivation and simply wanted to pass the time wirh some water; which then was mostly promptly brought out. We waited about another 20 minutes or so for our food to arrive. I got the "big breakfast burrito; it was delicious and hot; no complaints there. But what did annoy me was we sat there after our stuff was delivered and I even noticed we didn't have any catsup on the table that I would've liked to dab a little on my hash browns. Our waitress NEVER RETURNED ((until)) we were well done eating. And that was just to finally hand us our bill. We were prompt then to make sure we told her we were done, wanted our bill; and a small to_go container for the rest of my wife's sandwich she hadn't finished.. they do offer a military discount, so that's good. So_ to summarize, the food was very good, but the service and atmosphere left quite a bit to be desired. AUGUST 2025 we had sorta an early lunch. Our waiter was EXTREMELY attentive. _like way beyond amount needed. THE DIRTIEST PLACE IVE EVER EATEN! Literally every inch of the west oly ihop is covered in something gross. @45 We’ve eaten at all sorts of dives so a little dirt usually doesn’t bother me but this place is just nasty. I came a second time a few months apart to see if anything had changed maybe I was just there on a fluke day but no still the same. The only positive I can give this place is the waiter we got both days was friendly & our food came fast but we were the 1of 2 couples there. Both times it was pretty dead I image not too many people want to go here to enjoy their breakfast it’s probably a lot cleaner to sit out on the sidewalk. In general it needs remodeling but I can deal with torn seats & water damaged ceilings if there’s a basic level of sanitary standards but that just doesn’t exist here. My glass had something nasty stuck to the inside of my glass, and at the end of the meal after almost finishing a stack of pancakes under the last pancake there was a big hair. I was grossed out but didn’t say anything since I’d finished most the plate & didn’t seem like anything I could say was gunna change their standards.The windows look like a 5 year old tried to clean them with brown water smeared it all around and didn’t dry them. The same food and handprints all over the windows & the dividers in between the seats 3 months in between visits. The ledge at the top of the bench seats caked with old nasty stuff. Even the light fixtures were gross. I think the only reason people go here is for the rewards program that let you earn free pancakes with every purchase.

Just to update , it’s been months since this review and I am still driving by seeing the same gross windows smeared with brown water so I haven’t felt the urge to go back in to check out the rest . Not a good experience. I don't like to leave bad reviews but really every IHOP I go to isn't great and think i need to post about it. This location specifically is the worst ! It started with the hostess /waitress being upset with other host first thing after we walked in making rude comment to him. Not sure what happened but whatever it was it ruined her day and it seems it probably everyone elses time while in the restaurant atleast. She proceeds to take us to our seats after discussing what table to put us at with the host that upset her, when there, we didn't even get seated before we hear, what did you guys want to drink??

Whoah lady... 🫤 even my 12 year old realized what the heck?

The way she said it was rude, she was also impatient while waiting for us to finish telling her. When we gave our food order, that was ok I guess but after the food was brought to us she made us feel hurried to eat. She brought us our tab minutes after food was brought to table then actually came by again not even 10 minutes after and asked if she could have the ticket we just paid while we were still trying to finish our food. I think she was trying to see if we were giving her a tip. Why was it so important she needed that piece of paper right then and there. 🤦Smh

She was zooming all over the place, trying being fake nice to the customers after she realized she was being a way with everyone, though they caught on to her.

I get people have bad days but controlling it while your at work and not taking the frustration out on customers is another thing. We just came to eat. She was on a mission.. to no tip that is

Food was not good either. Hashbrowns were hard, Omelettes over cooked etc. Maybe you'll have different experience but I'll never go here again. Not that I'm sure they would care anyhow but just...
