This is the worst experience I've had at a restaurant in a very long time and I'm not a picky person. Went to order, the 3 sandwiches I picked were sold out. Finally chose a ham cheese and ketchup bagel. They were out of ham so I chose roast beef (nothing else available). The coffee came out with curdled/bad cream. The bagel sandwich came out with no egg or ketchup, just roast beef and cheese. I asked the waitress about it, she let me know a new one would be coming out. A few minutes later another waitress came out to tell me they aren't going to fix it because they "can't do roast beef and eggs". She offered me a side of ketchup instead. At this point two other nearby tables who heard the back and forth asked me if she really just offered me a side of ketchup on an incorrect order. I decided to ask for an egg to put on the sandwich. The owner/chef acted like this was the biggest inconvenience he'd dealt with all day. I was so embarassed with how he spoke to me that I immediately said please don't make the eggs, my family and I are leaving. The waitress brought out the eggs anyways as we were on our way out. The two customers sitting next to us (who I did not know) let me know they were shocked with how they treated me and they would not be coming back based off what just happened.
I understand being busy and out of items. But when you give me a sandwich that is missing 2 out of the 4 listed ingredients, that's a problem. I didn't ask for a refund and was very nice to the staff. I was even willing to CONSTRUCT THE SANDWICH MYSELF if provided the eggs but apparently that request was asking for the moon.
I can't remember the last time I left a restaurant feeling embarassed AND hungry. Will not be back, and will be sure to let friends and family know not to go either. The other customers who saw what happened said the same thing to me before we left; they won't be back and will let others know to...
Read moreIf you need a somewhat quick fix in a casual environment, this is the place. I saw generous portions coming out from the ONE person run kitchen, but didn't hear a lot of "mmmmm's" or "yummmmm's" coming from anyone's mouth, including mine. I didn't finish my soup due to boring and too much cream, and I had to scrape off the excess cream cheese on my bagel with avocado and bacon which was bland apparently due to not receiving the added spices the menu said it would have. In addition, all my special requests were ignored and honestly watching the cashier/ delivery person ask every table if there was "anything else" he missed made me wonder why he didn't ask me except for the fact despite ONE person slinging all this shlop, that same cashier couldnt even deliver my coffee press or soup prior to my meal, showing me he was literally leaving all the heavy lifting for the one cook in the back. I feel for the cook. And I feel bad knowing the most delicious portion of my food was his sweat, I dare say dear business owner- place a closed sign on your door if you're understaffed. This was a painful experience to watch, and frankly ruined...
Read moreI would've given 4 or 5 stars a few years ago, but they've changed ownership and the quality/consistency has slipped. Beet salad used to be ginormous, with actual roasted beets, chilled and chopped - now they're canned diced ones - not nearly as flavorful. Cuban pork sandwich used to have a homemade apricot spread, now it's kinda dry/basic. Seasonal-ingredient specials are no longer. Vibe wise the old owner was a character, but had a clear pov with cool/funky decor/classic sandwich deli with a twist, and it was a tight ship - now random tacky decorations are going up and it's feeling cluttered/random. New ownership is really nice, friendly and good service, except I've been in 2x now when only one employee is there and they're swamped, and you just feel bad for them. Hope they iron the wrinkles out and find their rhythm/own unique style in both...
