Let me start by saying oly taproom has always been a favorite local spot, which I have recommended to many friends and family. Tonight , on our anniversary, we were met with a lot of attitude and judgment. We went to have a couple beers here before a nice dinner, before our anniversary dinner. We had our first date at Oly taproom so it stays true to our heart. I asked for a sample of one of their beers (as typical to try a beer beer or many options before committing to a a pint) . This is very typical to a taproom who should take pride is showcasing their selection and which was always the case. I was told they didn’t do samples anymore. Ok, no worries, I just ordered a beer and enjoyed as I didn’t want to make a big deal of it. 10 mins late I watch another bartender provide numerous samples to another patron , no questions asked. My husband, who is one to never complain, mentioned this to our bartender when asked if we wanted to order another beer. Why these people we’re allowed samples yet I wasn’t . We were told they were a “friend” and numerous studerring attempts and back pedals later, we didn’t get a clear answer. Needless to say we left after that, some what offended as to why we were treated differently, apart from being long term costumers of 6 years trying to celebrate our anniversary in a local business we support. This is so disappointing and started our anniversary off on a bad note or being poorly treated. I would never take advantage of a local business and certainly don’t appreciate being made to feel as if a 1oz beer sample would be doing so when I have spent plenty of money supporting this establishment.
I am sad to say Oly Taproom isn’t what it used to be with it’s small town feel and appreciation of...

I went to grab a couple of beers to drink at home. I was on an urgent family call. When I went to pay for them, the cashier told me I couldn't be on the phone for service. So I immediately hung up my phone to pay and get out of there; he continued not charging for the beers, looked at me again, and said that people were waiting for the orders behind me, and I was holding the line. I let him know that I had already hung up and that I wanted to pay for the selected beers, that's it, and he looked at me and threatened me that if I continued on the phone, he would not serve me or if I do it again in the future. So, I decided to leave without the beers because I was not going to purchase them in a place where I felt discriminated against. My conversation was in Spanish. He treated me entirely differently compared to other customers using their phones.
I understand each company has its reservation for service, but I didn't put any resistance, and I was cooperative with him. I don't want to go to a place where I do not...
Read moreA delicious love letter to the beers of the West Coast.
They offer 14 rotating taps of a variety of beers and one cider, along with a cold case of hundreds of additional types. All of the staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and glad to help you find what you might want based on your tastes.
The clientele tends to be folks who enjoy beer and good company. It's rare to find a group of disheveled 20-somethings drinking to wild excess, which is wonderful. They have some board games, but many people bring their own for spirited game nights and good beer. They have a couple TVs, by no means a sports bar, but will play Seahawks and Sounders and other games at request.
They only serve pizza for food, but it is quite good pizza. And if you're not interested in that, you can bring in your own food or even have it delivered. I've had Uber Eats drop food off several times.
Finally, the owners are both locals and care about their community. They often partner with groups to collect donations and give aways. They listen to the feedback they receive and are looking to make themselves a staple in downtown.
Take some time to chat with the staff and enjoy a few pints in a comfortable space. You'll be...
