I have been going to Bud Bay Cafe since 1997. I was shocked when the male manager working Tuesday 9/28/2021 told me to stop complaining when food was brought to my table cold. This was the second time (8/3/2021 new server) that food was brought cold. There was not temperature to the vegetables. It was the third time, the prime rib was brought to the table not cooked medium well as specified. Ironically two of those times was 9/28/2021. Half the prime rib was rose red which is not cooked medium well. I ate the end which was cooked and took the rest home to finish cooking it at a later date (as was done with the prime rib on 9/13/2021).
The restaurant used to have good service and especially better manners from the manager. I will always complain about improperly cooked food; and it is my right to expect food to be cooked as requested and arrive hot. Especially for meals over $40 per person.
The incident of 8/3/2021 was when I ordered the crab cakes and they came cold with cold vegetables. The staff was under manned and I had a new server who either did not coordinate with the kitchen and left the meal cooling or the kitchen is just pushing orders through and letting them cool.
Either way, this is not acceptable. I waited 2 weeks before writing this review to ensure an non emotional perspective. The kitchen is not either getting the orders clearly understood, or they don't care and just push things out wither the table customer is ready for it after having the salad course, or they have cooked all the vegetables and just let them sit cooling and thus open for bacteria infection.
I have no idea how a steak comes out of a kitchen and has no heat to the touch. Further how a redo of the order produces another steak which is only cooked per order on 1/3 of the meat.
The last time 9/28 was to be a mentally relaxing day to celebrate my birthday. The meal was ruined. Further to have the manager who tracks when a complaint is made tell me I should stop is totally wrong in customer service and health department regulations.
I strongly suggest this restaurant be avoided till they are properly staffed, had a customer service adjustment to actually caring about the well being of their customers. Personally, I expect an apology and hope to see...
Read moreHello, on Valentines Day night I had made reservations for 7:15 - unfortunately my wedding ended a lot sooner then thought. We called ahead to see if we could be taken in earlier and she said she would see what she could do (we totally understood and did not want to impose) Once we got there your manager was not kind in the slightest. Instead of walking up to my party of 13 to ask for my husband (whose name was on the reservation) she called out “JASON!” 4 times until he answered to which my husband replied “who is Jason?” Because that WASNT his name. Instead of asking what his name was or attempting to correct herself she said “well I don’t know what it is and you look like a Jason” that was strike 1, because it was rude. And she was extremely snarky. It was almost enough for me to tell my husband I wanted to leave because the lack of respect and I would never call someone else by a name that wasn’t there’s because I was to lazy to look at the reservation. We all ordered our food pretty quickly after we sat down. It took over an hour to be served and it was cold. I got the land and sea, and it was awful. The vegetables were cold, the lobster was cold and the steak looked like it came out of my daughter’s toy tub and did not have any flavor. My mother’s vegetables were cold and her salmon appeared to be undercooked. My daughter’s fries were cold, in fact everyone’s food was either below room temperature or cold. My husband got the Red Curry which was exquisite, it was so delicious and beautifully made we had never had a dish that was so delicious, the waiter we had was super sweet, accommodating and she talked to us too. She was amazing. Our bill (my husband, daughter and I) came to $130 and I almost spoke up to tell the waiter how I did not enjoy it at all - I even put it in a to go plate and didn’t eat it. But I was too afraid to because then it would have been 8 out of 13 speaking up to this poor girl about how it was not good at all. We didn’t want to overwhelm her. I’m really disappointed as this was my wedding dinner. I just wanted to make you guys aware… I’m more disappointed in myself for spending that kind of money when I didn’t eat a...
Read moreWhen another restaurant had a 45 minute wait to be seated my husband and I decided to go somewhere else. I had heard of Bud Bay but had never been so we decided to give it a shot.
Both of us had our hearts set on breakfast and it was my fault I did not look at the online menu. That was our only disappointment.
From the moment we walked through the door, to the moment we left, we were pleasantly pleased. It turned out the host who seated us had a horse so we immediately had something in common to discuss on our way to the table. Water was brought almost immediately which I always appreciate as I am a huge water drinker.
Our waiter was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. He brought us coffee and offered sourdough dinner rolls and they came with soft spreadable butter as opposed to rock hard from the refrigerator.
We were still set on breakfast so it took some doing to switch my taste buds over to lunch but I managed to overcome that desire.
We ordered the coconut prawn appetizer. I must say it was the best I have had in a LONG time. The prawns were huge, the coconut was crisp while the prawns were tender and juicy on the inside.
Our meal appeared to be cooked to order and it was hot and delicious!!! The couple sitting next to us did not realize we had had an appetizer. As we were packing up to leave with our leftovers, we got into a friendly conversation as she wondered why we hadn’t finished our meal. Then she understood, telling me she had always wanted to try the prawns but was afraid she would be disappointed. I assured her that if her order turned out like ours, she would be thrilled.
We did not have room for dessert. Bottom line, even though we did not have breakfast, we will definitely return. Thank you for a wonderful dining...
