CULTURAL COMMENT I'm making a cultural comment before a comment on the food to address mischaracterizations of this restaurant and similar places. I just moved from Arizona and have been spoiled with excellent choices of Sanoran Mexican food. Sonora is the Mexican state south of Arizona. Whereas Chihuahua is the Mexican state south of NM & Texas. Low key Mexican restaurants like this always have their complaints usually because of cultural disconnect. Whereas Americanized places hire smoothe talking gringos. If you are looking for a particular flavor, these are the kinds of places to try. Up front, they are not always going to be immediately nice out of language frustration or speak English well. If they have problem speaking english and sometimes mess up the orders, this is a good problem to have as you know they make the good stuff. Don't let the latin tempers intimidate you. Rather persistently stick up for you want with a smile and kindness. If you do, they usually ending respecting you and the relationship is very mutually pleasant. I love the Mexican people. Very humble & kind, big hearts, family oriented and VERY PASSIONATE. Very Christian. Hope this is helpful for other gringos like me. Enjoy the food and culture!
FOOD REVIEW At this place, I finally found the perfect red enchilada sauce in agreement with a previous reviewer. Had them put it on their flavor rich beef chimichana and it was heaven. Something I've been missing for over a year being in the region. Chilli Relleno was ok. No better place to look for in town so far for a chimi...
Read moreWent to restaurant after work this evening. The female who was working the window was very rude and disrespectful. Asked her would she add some jalapeños peppers to my order, she stated "the line was too long and she had people inside." Now, did she have to cook some jalapeño peppers and carrots? Wow! That's not the worse part, I live in LaVista. Something told me to check the order. Why she gave me the wrong order. I ordered two 5 for $5.99 beef tacos (one order hard, one order soft beef), one order soft chicken. All the orders were fried beef tacos. Get this, I returned after reaching 36th L Street, turn around to go back in to let her know that she gave me the wrong order, she then tells the person to still give me the wrong order, then when I checked her about the order she refused me service for her giving me the wrong order. Then I told her about how she gave me all that attitude at the window refusing me peppers that wouldn't have taken but a minute or two of her time. Very nasty person to be dealing with the public. Wouldn't be surprised if she continues to work there that the business will go bankrupt. Ask to speak to owner or manager, she stated the person wasn't there...when asked the name and number, she...
Read moreI normally go to Sam's Leon Tacos or Netties for my fried tacos. But because my daughter likes going to this place late at night for super fries, I decided to give them a try. Worst decision in life. I ordered a #2. Which contains two tacos w/rice and beans. I added a mango jarritos and a side of sour cream. Total came to $10.23. No problem. There's competitive pricing everywhere. But what was the problem, was the tortilla shell was under cooked. Was not crispy at all. Was like warm robbery dough. The rice was cold. After brushing off the crust from my beans, they were cold also. I asked for no shredded cheese on my plate. Instead I wanted queso. They gave me queso on my tacos with no tomatoes. Only unseasoned beef and lettuce. But they put shredded cheese on my beans and on my cold rice. Wth! Did not receive my sour cream at all. Who am I to complain? A person that wants spit in their food? No thank you. This chain will never see my...
