We went here for drinks and dessert a couple of years ago, which were great and we couldn't wait to go back to try dinner. Unfortunately, we should have listened to what the cosmos was trying to tell us, took the win and never came back. We were sat at a small table for 2. It appears as if they are more worried about how many people they can cram into the restaurant and how much money they can make more than people being comfortable, quality of food and it being a romantic setting. We ordered 2 of their acero old fashioneds, which we very weak. The dinner menu is very limited and very overpriced. They took the meatballs off of the menu. What type of Italian restaurant doesn't have meat balls? We were conversing about leaving then and we should have .I ordered the lobster risotto and she had the fusilli alla vodka. Both were a big disappointment. The lobster risotto was hard and undercooked. I have had plenty of al dente pasta and this wasn't al dente. The only give you 2 tablespoons of lobster, as you can see in the picture. The fusilli alla vodka has chicken in it. But that's not what we were served more like scraps of chicken pieces and gristle extremely disappointing and disgusting.$20 to add chicken?? Are you insane? I'm sure it wouldn't even be chicken breast but more chicken tendons But our bad experience didn't stop there. A few days later the charges for the overpriced disgusting dinner hit my card and I was overcharged. I tipped but not $30. The server had given himself a $30 tip. I called left a message and when I got a chance I called again the General manager Lindsey answered my call and I explained the situation to her. She told me she had never had any problems like this for that server. I had my customer copy and my receipt which always keep until charges are completed on my account. She was able to quickly find the merchant copy because i had those. She said it must have been a mistake because the ticket after mine had a $30 tip. Well if that's the case were all the other tips after mine put in wrong? She refunded the difference. I'm not buying it and no one else should either. Worse Italian food in the Omaha metro area. I don't know what this restaurant used to be but it's not that anymore. Thanks for the great dessert 2 years ago and the horrible food and trying to steal from me in 2 ways this month. We won't...
Read moreFirst visit. Overall a good dining experience. Professional service helped enhance a meal that had a few problems.
They are currently doing indoor and outdoor dining. Tables are spaced appropriately. Everyone was wearing masks.
Seafood antipasto 21 dollars 5 star The scallops were perfectly cooked. Some of the shrimp were a bit over, but to me the scallop is the thing to remember. The sauce was perfectly balanced for me. A great starter.
Burrata 16 dollars 4.5 stars Solid burrata salad. Everything combined well. Everything was fresh.
Vegetarian slice 11 dollars 4.5 star Really enjoyed the pesto sauce on this pizza. My companion loved the large chunks of garlic. The salad, albeit a simple red wine vinegar, was easy to eat
Carbonara 17 dollars 3 stars The sauce was not creamy enough. The pasta was dry. My companion felt it was overly salted. For myself, the flavor wasn't where I hoped it would be, and after 2 bites I didn't consume any more. We spoke to our server about it after the meal. He told us next time to let him know right away so that he could fix the issue immediately.
Bistecca 49 dollars 3.5-4 stars Overly salty. Everything on the plate was salted a bit too much. The chef did a good job on cooking the steak. Might be something nice for a steak lover (I'd ask to go easier on the salt) but not a top pick for myself here.
Things to note: when you order the gelato trio you will only get one choice of ice cream. We were told that it was because there were mix ups... when the servers would deliver the flavors sometimes they would get it wrong. I was surprised that the servers would get it wrong so often that it would stop them from offering multiple flavors.
Budino 7 dollars 4 stars If you are into something very sweet this might be a 5 star for you. The flavor was good.
They do have a parking lot with some parking, but they expanded their patio to accommodate more space so some spots are no longer there. It does make for a safer dining experience.
Overall I worked like to try more of their menu. I was told this was the place to go for pasta so I might try to figure out which is the best on...
Read moreWent to Avoli for our anniversary dinner tonight. It was a wonderful choice.
When we got there, it wasn't very busy and we were seated immediately. They sat us in the back, all by ourselves near the kitchen. It was very quiet and intimate, just perfect for us. They didn't even know it was our anniversary, so being seated like that was really nice. The decor was cozy and eccletic. The giant wine glass of corks was cool.
We started with the salumi board and added honeycomb to it. It was excellent. One of the best we have ever shared. Just like a traditional charcuterie board, it came with 3 types of cheeses, 3 meats and assorted sauces, jams, mustards and such. The pork belly rillete was the best of the 3 meats which were also peppered procuttio and speck. I forgot what 3 cheeses we had. The sweet onion jam was as surprisely enjoyable choice. It was served with toasted foccaia. I regret forgetting to take a picture of it, but we were enjoying it too much.
I had the spaghetti and meatballs and added fresh mozzarella to it. The pasta was tender and the meatballs were flavorful and satisfying. There was only about half the amount of pasta that I would normally expect for the dish, but I decided tonight that less was better as it gave me space for my dessert later(which will be an entirely different post)
I also got more of the rosemary foccacia bread. It came with olive oil, but no pepper or anything to add to the oil. I really prefer the places that do fresh cracked pepper in the oil with the bread.
My husband got the procuttio wrapped salmon that had kale, pecans, roasted potatoes and a puree I am not sure what it was. He also got the roasted seasonal veggies for a side. It was broccolini, sliced banana peppers, peanuts and a savory sauce. He really enjoyed all of it.
We did not have dessert there, but all in all. I would happily go back just for the...
