It is disappointing to say to least to have your favorite restaurant in Omaha treat your family so ignorantly for dinner. I love the downtown location, and the Village Pointe Ika was is more convenient at times to get food at. I've enjoyed it for years. However, when you bring in your wife's parents, most notably your mother in law, to just enjoy a meal as a family with great food, you expect the service to go right along with that expectation. However, when not even a waiter, a manager, comes over and complains about having to throw out all bowls and utensils your mother-in-law threw up in, (mind you it was only one bowl), and shakes her head walking away instead of asking about the situation politely, it is beyond frustrating and disappointing to drive your mother-in-law home crying because she cannot enjoy a meal with her family. My mother-in-law has four autoimmune illnesses, and has a strict diet to begin with, although she can do the best she can to follow the foods she can or cannot eat, sometimes the food does not agree with her. Although it is not pleasant, sometimes the food comes back up. I can totally understand the frustration for a wait staff when someone drunk and belligerent causes a scene. However, no wait staff came up and check on the situation. They just stared in a corner of the bar. We paid before leaving left a nice tip, because we understand it is out of the ordinary and not the easiest task to deal with once we leave. Overall, we all understand that it is difficult situation. It is different when you make someone already struggling feel 10x worse when we are just trying to enjoy a dinner together. Sometimes things happen. Despite that, the treatment that she received was unacceptable, rude, and ignorant. We will not be returning to this...
Read moreFirst time in here sense the fuzzy tacos has closed. I 100% would take this over that run down taco. Atmosphere was Amazing. And the service was phenomenal. Never had such a great service experience. We originally went in for only drinks and then saw the menu. Our hostess told us about the little dictionary and asked us any questions. That little dictionary made us order the food. It was such a cute touch.
After picking out our options we had ordered two of the Fugro? I think that’s what it was called. It’s spicy and has avocado, Chicken, green onion and a egg. I am deathly allergic to avocados and the waitress did his thing and made sure to let them know. (Not only is this rare to actually have someone TELL the chef but for the chef to actually do it is even more rare) It was spicy in the right areas. AND NO AVOCADO 🥑. you have no idea how happy I was about this. Usually I have to send food back at other places. And the portions were so much that honestly we could have only ordered one and it would have been fine for the two of us.
On terms of price yes it’s expensive, but it’s worth it. The ramen we get from the market is NOTHING compared to this. Definitely it’s own thing. Authentic ramen tends to make me sick but this was absolutely amazing. From the service to the atmosphere all the way to the food. Absolutely amazing. I definitely should have tipped more before taking my order for to go and not trying it until I was home. That’s my...
Read moreEDIT: i will no longer be going to this establisment and advise no one else should. On 10/21 i went in got a drink and ramen, total was 27...the waiter charged a different table to my card. Not letting me know what happened, all i see is him on the phone holding my card, of course this sends up a red flag in this day and age so got up and asked what was going on, they explained what jappened and were trying to fix it with the card processing company..guarenteed i would get my refund. To this day ive heard nothing from them or the processing company. In my previous review i mentioned the wait staff..well here we are again, i undsrstand mistakes happen but this was unprofessional and a mistake with someones card is inexcuseable. This place has lost my business for good.
Since moving to midwest and learning ramen is a big thing here, ika has always been a solid go-to place to get ramen. While i whole heartedly prefer the benson location, this one def tries to keep the same quality. The wait staff is the only real difference and even then it depends on the day. Ive been here where everything (food and staff) were great and other days where staff was just par at best. This particular time the waiter (may have been new so not going to be overly harsh) was so soft spoken and seemed real unsure of himself, not checking upnfor drink orders/refills etc.. made this trip less...
