Ancho & Agave — Restaurant in Omaha

We absolutely love the atmosphere, this place is huge. The outdoor seating is definitely a bonus, just a very upbeat vibe. Waitstaff was quick to get a seated and take care of us. I like what they did with the lighting decor it kind of creates miniature atmospheres within the total experience. As always I'm drinking water but my wife decided it was going to be a margarita night with their signature margarita, wife approves,

I love that they bring you water and actually leave the pitcher at the table... I need to mention this, the owner comes to tables and checks on guests.. very awesome, this is something you only see in very nice establishments, and I love that the owner does this.

Side note, men's restroom, perfect layout, I can open the door with a paper towel and then throw it away, the trash is exactly where it should be and so often that is not the case..

Table nachos and salsa are excellent, fresh taste..

Appetizers will be Jalapeno and bacon poppers, perfect, amazing, delicious.. it is a hot app, so if you don't like spice, may not be for you... but I'm in love..

Stacked nachos El Jefe with chicken, this is an awesome twist on nachos. We love everything about this. Everything tastes so fresh. The easiest way to explain it would be like six layers of tostadas amount of ingredients. Delicious

We will also be trying Baja fried Fish Street taco. OMG. Huge portion of fish the slaw is vibrant and fresh the fish is tender and light, this is exactly how it should be.

That was so good, I ordered a grilled one to try... perfect, flaky...

Steak and chicken fajita, tender perfectly cooked meat, excellent flavors, fajita perfection....

Steak enchilada & Chicken enchilada. Excellent flavors, the meat is perfect and tender, the sauces are excellent, the meats are also individually seasoned which adds another layer of flavor. I could eat this everyday

Desserts.. Churros, perfect amount of crisp with fluffy tender center, delicious..

Brownie with banana ice cream.. Wow, very very good.. real banana ice cream.. we love it..

Generous portion sizes on everything, the prices are excellent. For those that follow my reviews you know that I get very picky, everything here is perfection.... We will be back and we will be bringing the kids, this restaurant is going to become a place that we frequent.

I've eaten here three times... first when they had just opened and then a couple months after, and then again the other night. It's a beautiful restaurant with plenty of seating choices.

This most recent time eating there, the young folks at the front desk were helpful, smily, and very pleasant. Their manager, however, was not. She was rude, condescending, and not helpful, at all...she fits right in at this place.

The other person in my party was sat before I got there and was at table that I didn't want to sit at, so I asked to be resat somewhere else. The supervisor or manager, who was at least 2x older than the other folks up there said to me, "Uh, we have lots of reservations and we're on a wait so you'll have to wait". Unfortunately for her, she didn't any research before she opened her mouth, as my party was one of the reservations that she was talking about. If she had simply asked how she could help, instead making some incorrect snap judgement, she would have know that and most likely wouldnt have popped off to customers that made reservations, like us, who just wanted a different table in a 50% empty restaurant.

My guess is, when the general managers/owners of this restaurant read this ridiculously long, yet accurate, review, she'll probably lie, and try to cover it up. But they can reach out to me... I'd be happy to come down there and recreate the scene, for posterity. I'll even provide paid actors and a film crew.

Enough about the lady upfront that used to work at Saltgrass, too. (mess with the bull and you get the horns)

The food is absolute garbage. The tacos are pretty gross, the street corn is inedible...Beans and rice ARE edible... from a food perspective, the only thing that was actually good, was the guacamole.

BUT!

Our server was fantastic! She had just started a few weeks earlier, and had recently left another horrible restaurant, Saltgrass. It's a shame that her fantastic customer service, personality, and knowledge will be wasted on a place that serves down right hot garbage, food.

SKIP this restaurant and go to Hector's, or La Mesa(which is also absolutely awful), or go to Taco John's across the street, at least you won't have to pay higher prices for crappy food.

The restaurant decor and atmosphere is beautiful. We had never been here but wanted to try somewhere new while visiting Omaha area. We were seated quickly, that's about where the positivity ends. When the waitress arrived at our table to fill water glasses, the glasses set in front of us were dirty. Little bits of dried on old food. I pointed it out and she removed them and brought out two more glasses still dirty with obvious remnants of old food. I chose to stay quiet and just not drink water. She left the water flask on the table, which also was dirty with little specs of old dried up bits of food on the inside. Benefit of the doubt, maybe the food will be great. So we continued on and ordered a variety of their specialty tacos. Fish, shrimp and carne asada. I can tell you right now they are not serving carne asada. It's pot roast cut into bite size pieces. No asada marinade and not a skirt steak. The shrimp was, well, shrimp as to be expected. The fish tacos were not fresh. It's was previously frozen fish sticks on a corn tortilla. I did not complain about the food. I did however hand the waitress another dirty plate that was delivered to our table. You could feel the dirt and grime on it. She took it away but made no attempt and resolving the fact that everything was not clean. I also want to say I have never sent back a dish to a kitchen for being dirty before so I'm not overly picky but this was obvious and poor quality control for sure. While there was a manager walking around the waitress made no attempt at offering an apology for continuing to bring us dirty dishes and made me feel extremely uncomfortable through the entire meal.
