My wife and I have both worked in restaurants in the past. Walking in the L Street Jason's Deli I was leery of the place as the windows were dirty and the door handle was loose. It was 2 p.m. in the afternoon and there were few people in the large dining area. I was surprised to see that the floors and tables were still dirty from lunch, should have been at least working on it at this point. To us the menu was confusing and my wife ordered the special. She thought a drink came with it and the guy at the counter remarked, "This isn't McDonald's, only one deal up here has a drink that comes with it." We ordered take out and he informed us that we were at the wrong register, although no one was at the other. I went to the restroom and it was a mess. It had that grimy feel that it hadn't been cleaned properly in a long time. While we waited to have our meal prepared we watched two ladies at the drive through counter using a phone to translate what was on the screen. I can only assume one was training the other; they were giggling and didn't move the entire time we were there. Service was slow and in the kitchen area the floor and counters had not been cleaned from the lunch rush. I ordered the ranch wrap which was expensive and small. My wife ordered the mufaletta sandwich, which seemed shoved together. The workers seemed lethargic and no one seemed to have a vested interest in the restaurant. I've been to the Dodge street Jason's Deli twice. We will be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent to Jason's Deli last night and like a goof, forgot my wallet at home. I walked to the counter, smiled and explained to the cashier my situation and asked if he would be able to type in my card. He told me no and I drove back home to get my card, to go back and get my potato.
I did not have a problem with being told no however, the cashier had a nasty attitude and at no point tried to explain the policy/reasoning for not doing so - he just kept saying no. I explained to him before that I had paid for large orders over the phone with my card and at delivery, my ID nor card were asked for - and wondered why now, me providing my card number was not sufficient. He responded, "We can't just put in credit card numbers that people throw out!" Had he said, "Ma'am, I apologize but our policy states blah, blah, blah..." I would not be writing this but the tone that he took made me feel that he thought I was lying and that the card I was using to pay for the $8 and some change potato - was not mine.
I get it. I could have been lying - but I wasn't. So instead of deterring a "would be" credit card scammer, he offended a very loyal customer with his piss poor attitude and terrible customer service. Once he handed me my bag, I said thank you and have a good night too - since he didn't bother. I don't know who this guy is but a refresher on customer service, manners and how to properly interact with customers would...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGave it one more chance... They failed. The last couple of times we visited, we went early on a SAT evening (@4pm). Each time there were maybe 5 customers in the entire place, but every empty table was full of trash. The place hadn't been bussed for hours, yet several employees were just gabbing behind the counter. We had to ask them to buss a table just so we could sit. The salad bar had gone downhill and the plates/cutlery we're dirty. We reached out to corporate. They requested my ph#(which I provided) and they said they'd be in touch. Never heard from them. We waited a few months and decided to give it one more try. Nothing changed. We walked in @415pm, very few customers but almost every table was dirty and not bussed. We waited a few minutes at the order counter, and despite several employees standing around, nobody greeted us or tried to help. So we used the self order kiosk and settled for the all you can eat salad bar. Every player they have me had dried food on it I had to remove. The cutlery was dirty. The food was "alright" at best, but not worth the filth/possible illnesses that could arise from lack of proper bussing/cleaning. We are not going back. They lost long...
