I had high hopes, haven't been to Benson one for years and this one was just down the street...but literally everything was wrong. The server was nice... Coffee started out room temp, smelled great and figured that was the brew, just asked for a fresh cup, it was yesterday's brew that I got first and room temp. The hot coffee came and it was just a standard burnt black coffee, no biggie didn't expect the first one to be hazelnut but was surprised. Had to order the Giant XL cinnamon roll. Asked about the banana and peanut butter pancakes, as menu said blueberry compote in it, server said that was a typo, so daughter ordered that. I order chicken fried chicken, gravy in a separate bowl, scrambled eggs. Cinnamon roll came, bottom and outside edges were hard and brittle and thin, the 1 teaspoon of glaze/icing? didn't cover much, inside was soft, but not worth the $12 at all. My daughter liked it, so she ate it but then asked why there wasn't any icing. After waiting a bit, only one other table when we got there, came out other dishes. My daughter's banana and peanut butter pancakes with blueberries compote under whipped cream, confused me as they said that was a type, she said she'd eat them. Server offered to replace, but that 30 minute wait wasn't gonna work for me again, plus she said that's fine. Bananas werent caramelized, but like microwaved warm and just mush. She ate a pancake, scrapping off everything else. My chicken fried chicken, gravy in side and scrambled? Eggs were cold like ready mix, not fresh eggs, figured they were for the price. Slimy and not good. The chicken fried chicken had a splash of the thinnest gravy, and what looked like a single end of a sausage link. I wasn't sure it was sausage as it was so out of place on the plate, but cut it open and figured that's what it was. No side of gravy, and again the server offered to have it remade. Again, I didn't want to wait even longer, so I said I'll eat it. Tried getting pepper out the shaker, and it was coarse grind, and couldn't come out. Lid off and sprinkled in my food, I use a lot of pepper normally but went pretty light here, that's when I found out it was a very coarse grind as it was crunching every bite. Didn't eat more than 2 bites of anything. The 8 year old daughter ate the cinnamon roll and a few bits of pancakes, she seemed happy with it, but I'm sorry, this was straight bad. The food was wrong, took forever, and disappointing throughout. Nothing like the experience I remember from Benson. The 3 table in the place was sat when we got our food, so maybe they just hadn't gotten into the flow?Again, the server was nice, and comped my meal and cinnamon roll, I understand they don't cook the food, so I made sure to leave a $30 tip on a $15 bill. Still not happy about dropping $45 bucks to be disappointed and still hungry. I think this place just opened, so I'll try again next year I guess. Super glad I didn't bring the whole...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOh boy! Omaha, if you weren't aware, Jojos Diner - West will be opening on 4/5/22. My wife and I had the pleasure of attending their soft opening and we experienced great flavors!
My wife was loving the pot stickers which were served with tiny chips, and large thick cut bacon. šš The carmelized exterior of the bacon was so good.
Brussel sprouts also were served with bacon and sliced almonds. The bacon again, was lovely and the sprouts were cooked well. They just could have used a touch more of salt and that would have made them perfect!
The Chix sandwich is their take on the Nashville Hot Chicken, and boy was it hot!!!š„µ A little too hot for my liking, but there were definitely good things going on. It was crispy, tender and the greens that were spread on top were tasty! I could have eaten a bowl of them easily. š„¬š„¬
My wife ordered a pasta dish (forgive me for forgetting the name) that they made specially without dairy. Yes, they can make that happen! I talked to the kitchen staff and it was a challenge, but they rocked it. She really liked it. When she gave me a taste, the spices were noticeable and well represented. Good stuff!
They have flatbreads as well!š I went with the steak; something different for me. It came with a pesto, garlic, balsamic and had a freshness to it. I was happy to see the wonderful color of the slices of steak. Beautiful!ā¤
When I walked in, I was surprised to see a couple of familiar faces. S/O to IT Guy from Yum Omaha who I've met multiple times and Stacy Winters from Omaha Food Lovers. That was my first time meeting him in person (about time that happened).
To the staff, thank you for being so helpful. We had a nice time, the food was great and you guys took care of us!⤠I hope the week goes as smoothly as possible for you.
Thanks again!

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI love the concept of Jojo's . . . it's nice to have a breakfast/brunch place in west Omaha. We decided to try Jojo's because of a coupon mailer. The restaurant is beautiful and has a terrific diner feel. We came for brunch on a weekday at about 1:00 p.m. We ordered coffee, which was poured out of an insulated carafe - lukewarm at best. It was served with a small pitcher of real cream, which cooled it down further. All refills were very much the same temperature. Hey Jojo's: Please serve HOT coffee--this is the foundation at a breakfast/brunch place! You can do it!! We also tried the giant XL cinnamon roll for $12. So sad . . . it was not good. It was well glazed, but the glaze maker added too much vanilla . . . it tasted sharp and "extracty." The roll was airy and tasted like rolls purchased from the grocery story bread aisle. I ordered the chicken fried chicken. The scrambled eggs were perfectly cooked the way scrambled eggs are supposed to be made (no browning). The chicken fried chicken and hashbrowns were delicious, and the gravy had a slightly sweet taste, which was divine. My dining partner had the Everything Hashbrowns. It was a very large portion and was overall very good. We'll be back to try more menu items . . . we're hoping the coffee situation is remedied. As for the rolls, save yourself $12. I recommend supporting Jojo's to keep them open in...
